A state House committee has approved a bill banning the use of foreign law, including Islamic (Shari’a) law in state courts. Terrorist Front Group CAIR challenge waiting in the wings.

THE REPUBLIC -The measure, proposed by Republican Rep. Carl Gatto of Palmer, instructs courts not to uphold any foreign laws if doing would strip a person of their constitutional rights.

Gatto says the bill would curb courts from recognizing Sharia, an Islamic law code incorporated into the legal systems of some countries.

Anchorage Democrat Max Gruenberg objected to the bill’s passage during Thursday’s House State Affairs Committee hearing, saying the bill could have unintended legal consequences.

Business agreements were exempted from the bill after committee members expressed concerns that the measure could infringe on international commerce. House Bill 88 will be considered by the House Judiciary Committee next Wednesday.

ILLINOIS: DuPage County approved a new mega mosque called MECCA, totally ignoring the angry objections of non-Muslim opponents who expressed concerns that the big mosque would negatively impact residents near the site, but their opinions didn’t sway the liberal dhimmis on the board.

Chicago Tribune–A Muslim group — after months of controversy — won approval Tuesday to build a mosque near Willowbrook.

A conflict between the religious group’s right to practice its faith and the local community’s concern about overdevelopment gave way to compromise when the DuPage County Board accepted a scaled-back proposal of the mosque from the Muslim Educational Cultural Center of America, or MECCA.

Despite Tuesday’s resolution, other conflicts over mosque proposals remain in DuPage County. Board members in January 2010 rejected a proposed mosque near Naperville, which prompted supporters to file a federal lawsuit that is pending. Proposals for facilities near West Chicago and Lombard also are under consideration and being debated.

After rejecting a call to send the matter back to the county’s Zoning Board of Appeals for further study, the board signed off on the revised plan by approving a conditional-use permit 13-5. ”I was anticipating the good that was going to come out of this,” said Lena Kasi Touleimat, a member of MECCA.

In addition, the county has considered — but appears to be backing away from — a proposal to prohibit the construction of any more places of assembly, including religious institutions, in unincorporated residential areas.

Though such conflicts have led to concerns of religious discrimination, supporters of the MECCA site were not pointing fingers Tuesday. ”I can’t read people’s minds.

“We left it to Allah and we trust what he does,” added Lubna Farooq, a board member of MECCA.

Residents who live near the proposed site who attended the meeting were mostly disappointed. ”I’m unhappy,” said Larry Senters. “I’m worried about flooding and traffic.  (Not to mention eardrum shattering calls to prayer several times a day)

Eliminated from its proposal were a minaret and dome — considered sacred components of a mosque — and a multipurpose room. The size was decreased from 57,000 square feet to 47,000 square feet and dropped in height from 36 feet to 29 feet.

The board had not approved zoning relief for a mosque since 1994 when a site in Hinsdale was approved, Hoss said. Other Muslim organizations have been granted building permits, including one in 2009 at North Avenue, just west of Interstate Highway 355. That site did not need board approval because it was in a commercial zoning district, he said.

Ahmed Rehab, executive director of the Chicago Office of the TERRORIST FRONT GROUP Council on American-Islamic Relations, the group that filed the lawsuit against the county in the Naperville case, said Tuesday’s decision bodes well for other proposals.

“I think they made the right decision not just for the Muslim community but for the county and the country,” Rehab said. “They voted yes for pluralism, they voted yes to strengthened diversity and yes to equal opportunity for all of us. We hope that this decision will have a positive influence on the other pending cases.” (It’s way past time to ban the construction of any more terrorist training buildings posing as mosques in this country)

Organizers say the event gives Muslims an opportunity to talk about how they can enhance Michigan and also voice their concerns. ”Given that there’s a lot of frustration and even some fears within the Muslim community concerning the rhetoric that’s going on in politics regarding the Muslim community, so we really felt that this was the time to do something more effective and proactive,” said Raheem Hanifa, Muslim Capitol Day Co-Chair.

FLORIDA judge defends his harebrained ruling that Shari’a (Islamic) Law should prevail

A Florida judge is defending his decision to apply Islamic law instead of state or federal statutes in determining whether an arbitration award was correct.

Shouldn’t this judge be in handcuffs for bypassing the Constitution for foreign law?

FOX NEWS -The case in question involves former trustees of a local Tampa mosque, the Islamic Education Center of Tampa, who are suing because they claim they were unfairly removed as trustees. Hillsborough Circuit Judge Richard Nielsen said that the two parties
can seek guidance from the Quran to resolve their dispute, according to MyFoxOrlando.com.

Nielsen said that based on testimony, “under ecclesiastical law,” and pursuant to the Quran, “Islamic brothers should attempt to resolve a dispute among themselves.” ”If Islamic brothers are unable to do so, they can agree to present the dispute to the greater community of Islamic brothers within the mosque or the Muslim community for resolution,” he said.

The two parties reportedly agreed ahead of time to use an imam and Islamic Law to resolve any potential differences through arbitration. Legal observers say there are several cases in which agreements between two parties can supercede general laws in Florida — like when a couple makes a prenuptial agreement.

“What the judge has said is that he will apply the Islamic Law, because that is what the two parties agreed to in their arbitration clause,” Shahzad Ahmed, an attorney with NeJame Law Firm in Orlando, told the station. “This concept of agreeing to a different set of rules outside of state law is not unusual.”

In an effort to defend his ruling, Nielsen issued an opinion Tuesday stating: “From the outset of learning of the purported arbitration award, the court’s concern has been whether there were ecclesiastical principles for dispute resolution involved that would compel the court to adopt the arbitration decision without considering state law.”

“The court has concluded that as to the question of enforceability of the arbitrator’s award the case should proceed under ecclesiastical Islamic law,” Nielsen said, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Muslim Brotherhood’s North American Muslim Students Association gateway to Jihad

What you don’t know about the Muslim Students Association (MSA), one of the largest Islamic organizations in America, with chapters on hundreds of college campuses, is that several of its leaders have been convicted of terrorism, prompting some terror experts to call the MSA a recruiting tool for jihad.

CBN –Although many Muslim and liberal groups complained about recent congressional hearings on homegrown Islamic radicalism, American-born Muslims are behind a growing number of terror plots — a trend that Attorney General Eric Holder has said keeps him “up at night.”

Many of these homegrown jihadists once belonged to the MSA, which has thousands of members on college campuses throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Terrorism expert Patrick Poole, however, told CBN News his investigation of the organization shows it’s being used for another purpose.”The Muslim Students Association has been a virtual terror factory,” said Poole. “Time after time after time again, we see these terrorists — and not just fringe members: these are MSA leaders, MSA presidents, MSA national presidents — who’ve been implicated, charged and convicted in terrorist plots.”

The roll call includes Anwar al-Awlaki, the al Qaeda cleric linked to terror plots from Fort Hood to Times Square and beyond. Then there is Ramy Zamzam. Before his conviction in Pakistan last year for attempting to join the Taliban and kill American troops, Zamzam was president of the MSA’s Washington, D.C., council. Omar Hammami, a leader of the al-Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia, is another MSA alum. He was once president of the group’s chapter at the University of South Alabama. Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was national president of the MSA during the 1980s, was al Qaeda’s top fundraiser in America and is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence.

The MSA is a supposedly “mainstream” group that has long operated on college campuses from coast to coast. Yet a 2007 New York Police Department report identified the organization as an “incubator” for Islamic radicalism.

Former FBI Special Agent John Guandolo told CBN News that the problem can be traced back to the group’s roots in the Muslim Brotherhood — a jihadist movement that seeks to establish Islamic Sharia law worldwide.

“The MSA serves as a recruitment tool to bring Muslims into the Brotherhood,” Guandolo said. “Which was its original purpose: to evaluate Muslims and to bring them into the Brotherhood and to recruit non-Muslims into Islam as a dawa entity, giving them the call to Islam.”

Guandolo worked on several major terrorism cases for the FBI. He calls the MSA the “focal point” for the Muslim Brotherhood in America. “Their goal, both from their senior leaders, presidents of MSA’s around the country, national leadership, is to implement Islamic government here in the United States,” he explained. “And they say that.”

“There were really three leaders, three Iraqi guys: Jamal Barzinji, Ahmed Totonji, and Hisam Altalib, who really set it up, who are known, identified Muslim Brotherhood leaders,” said Poole. “And from there, MSA became the mother ship of all the Muslim Brotherhood front groups.”
