ABC reporter dons hijab, then burqa (Islamic head & body bags) to uncover 'secret' Islamophobia in America

Sadly, she didn’t find very much.

NEWSBUSTERS ABC on Friday did its best to find secret discrimination against Muslims, sending Good Morning America’s Bianna Golodryga undercover in a hijab (Islamic head covering). Yet, despite the misleading graphic, “Life Under the Veil: TV Experiment Exposes Bias,” the morning show didn’t find much bigotry.

Late in the segment, Golodryga admitted, “Overt discrimination is the exception.” When an ABC producer tried the experiment in New York, the correspondent acknowledged, “Everywhere, people went out of their way to be friendly.”

Yet, Golodryga kept trying. Going to the red state of Texas, she explained, “But it was different in my hometown of Houston. At the airport, I could feel all the eyes on me.” (Gotta love those Texans)

Wearing a burka, she narrated, “In a nearby mall, I wanted to see what would happen if I wear wore a more striking version of Islamic dress, which covers everything but the eyes and is less common here in the states. The stares increased.” (Quick, call CAIR, getting stared out certainly must be a hate crime)

If something is uncommon, wouldn’t it be likely that stares increase?

After a man walked by and offered a muffled comment, Golodryga deciphered, “It sounds like he said, ‘Islamic queen.’ I couldn’t tell if he meant it in a friendly way or not.”

To build the case for rampant anti-Muslim sentiment in America, Golodryga asserted, “According to the FBI, hate crime incidences against Muslims soared from 28 in 2000, to 481 in 2001. And still remain well above pre-9/11 levels.”

However, as Michael Doyle of the Sacramento Bee reported on August 28, 2010, hate crimes against Muslims are rare and occur less often than violence against Jews and gays:

In 2008, 105 hate crime incidents against Muslims were reported nationwide. There were 10 times as many incidents that were recorded as anti-Jewish during the same year, the most recent for which figures are available.

Golodryga concluded by marveling of her undercover experience on the subway: “People didn’t even pay attention to me as I walked around like a normal American. My religion didn’t matter.” One might wonder, then, what was the point of this segment on bigotry and “bias”?

TEXAS to vote on scrubbing the pro-Islam lies and propaganda from history textbooks

A band of members on the Texas Board of Education are upset about supposed claims of pro-Islam (and anti-Christian) bias in Texas history textbooks, and come Friday the board will vote on a resolution that would let publishers know the state won’t stand for it.

The Blaze “The purpose of this resolution is to ensure there is balanced treatment of divergent groups,” Gail Lowe, the chairwoman of the board, told the New York Times. “In the past, the textbooks have had some bias against Christianity.”

The resolution claims that past textbooks have devoted more lines to Islamic beliefs and practices than to Christianity and spelled out atrocities committed by Christian crusaders while ignoring similar atrocities by Muslim fighters. For example, the resolution says that textbook writers habitually call Christians “violent attackers” or “invaders” while playing down Muslim conquests in Europe as “migrations,” and ignore Muslim practices involving sexism, slavery, and persecution of non-Muslim groups.

While if adopted the resolution might not have an immediate effect, it does say that the board would “look to reject future prejudicial social studies submissions that continue to offend Texas law with respect to treatment of the world’s major religious groups.”

“If you can control or influence our education system, you can start taking over the minds of the young people,” said Randy Rives to the Times. Rives, a member of the school board in Odessa, TX, drafted and submitted the resolution to the state board. “And so I think we are real passionate that you need to make a bold statement to the publishers that pushing this agenda will not be tolerated in Texas.”

“I think our documentation clearly shows that the bias is there,” Rives added to MSNBC. “And we feel that it was not done on accident.”

…even though Michigan prosecutors refuse to press charges against the man who burned a Quran outside a mosque because “there was no violation of Michigan law.”

Detroit News Burning a holy book, whose pages were found outside the Islamic Center of East Lansing on Sept. 11, doesn’t qualify as a hate crime, Dunnings said. “We don’t have a hate crime. There was no threat of physical intimidation because (the man who burned the Quran) was the only one there at the time,” Dunnings said.

The act also was protected by the First Amendment, said Dunnings, who equated it to burning a flag.

The incident, which occurred on the ninth anniversary of the 2001 terror attacks, prompted worldwide condemnation and rioting by Muslims.

A Lansing man, whose identity has not been released, told police he burned the holy book. He should face federal charges, said Dawud Walid, executive director of (Terrorist Front Group) CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations-Michigan.)

“Not to prosecute this hate crime would send a terrible message to bigots that there will be no legal repercussion against those who intimidate Muslims at their houses of worship,” Walid said. (Muslims send a terrible message to Americans just by their presence here)

“While this individual may not have broken any Michigan law, he has caused tremendous grief to a lot of people both locally and beyond our community,” wrote Dr. Mahmoud Mousa, president of the Islamic Society of Greater Lansing. (Well Boo Fricken Hoo)

He said the mosque has a “Learn, Don’t Burn” campaign that gives away Qurans free to promote understanding. (We have learned all about the Qur’an which is why it needs to be incinerated)

“We should all promote a message of mutual respect and tolerance. If anything, this incident has strengthened the will and determination of our communities to live together in peace and harmony,” Mousa said.

“We hope this will be the message that the rest of the world learns from this unfortunate incident,” he said. ”We wish that no race, religion or community would undergo the pain that we underwent.”
