BNI, however, will post it as a reminder for when you hear the left wing scumbags slobbering about how wonderful Petraeus is.
ABC NEWS Jonathan Karl reports: Back in September 2007, when moveon.org attacked General David Petraeus as “General Betray Us,” the Senate passed a resolution to express “full support” for Petraeus and to “strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.”
The resolution passed 72 to 25.
The list of “NO” votes reads like a who’s who of Democratic power players: Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, the entire Democratic leadership of the Senate (Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Murray) and the current chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee (Levin).
Also interesting are those who did not vote: Senators Joe Biden and Barack Obama.
And although Senator Obama skipped this vote, he was in Washington and did vote on the other two measures that came up for a vote that day (one before the Petraeus vote, one after).
Back then, many Democrats were critical of Patraeus because they believed he was exaggerating progress made in Iraq during surge. Today, when asked about past Democratic criticism, Senator Levin said General Patraeus has “proven himself in the field and that he is a supporter of the president’s policy and that he is the architect of a counterinsurgency strategy.”

DAILY KOS General Stanley McChrystal has fantasized in writing about killing the U.S. president in the White House with a handgun. “The president strode in smiling,” McChrystal wrote. “From the right coat pocket of the raincoat I carried, I slowly drew forth my 32-caliber pistol.”
The passage appears in the Rolling Stone article The Runaway General as author Michael Hastings quotes one of McChrystal’s short stories, “Brinkman’s Note.”
I hope the Secret Service strip searches this monstrous thug before his meeting with Obama in the White House Wednesday. For the humiliation, mainly. But you can’t be too careful with this devil.
Hastings’ article reveals that sometimes, America’s military is not made up of our best and brightest, but of our sickest and most pathological criminals. Half frat boy, half eighth-grader, half murderer and all evil, McChrystal is a sad remnant of Donald Rumsfeld’s dysfunctional Pentagon who should have been kicked out of the military in West Point rather than be allowed to slouch his way through a brutal career and find his way into the White House. DISGUSTING! London is now banning dogs from buses for RELIGIOUS reasons, ISLAMIC religious reasons. But it was Muslims who blew up the buses on 7/7 , not dogs.
On two occasions last week my dog was barred from London buses, not because she’s particularly fierce or big, but on religious grounds. A friend and I had taken her to the park, and as I went across to the grocer, my friend took Daisy, a Manchester terrier, to the bus stop.
When a second bus arrived, she again made to embark, but was stopped again – this time because the driver said he was Muslim. I know that Muslims consider dogs to be unclean, but last time I looked this wasn’t a Muslim country and London Transport was a non-denominational organisation.
I’m a Catholic, but I’m hardly likely to start insisting that no divorced people should be allowed on my bus. I have no intention of causing upset with my dog and I wouldn’t allow her to brush against anyone who was at pains to avoid her. None the less, I instinctively cavil at this creeping intolerance, masquerading as pious devotion, whatever its origins. UK TELEGRAPH H/T TROP

Pakistan sentences FIVE MUSLIM-AMERICAN would-be terrorists to 10 years in prison

The men, ALL MUSLIMS, were arrested in the eastern city of Sargodha in December.
The case of the five young Muslims from the Washington, D.C., area is one of several involving alleged “homegrown” American militants linked to Pakistan, but the only one being tried in a Pakistani court.
Five American men were convicted Thursday on terror charges by a Pakistani court and sentenced to 10 years in prison in a case that has heightened concerns about Westerners traveling to Pakistan to contact al-Qaida and other Islamist extremist groups.
Prosecutors said e-mail records and witness statements proved the men used the Internet to plot terror attacks in Pakistan and nations allied with it. The father of one of the men said they were in Pakistan to attend his son’s wedding, but had intended to to cross into Afghanistan for humanitarian work. (HAH!)
The verdict comes the same week Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad pleaded guilty to trying to bomb New York’s Times Square in May after getting training by the Taliban in Pakistan’s tribal areas.
The judge on Thursday handed down two prison terms for each man, one for 10 years on a criminal conspiracy charge, and the other for five years on the charge of funding banned organizations for terrorism. A copy of the decision seen by The Associated Press said the terms were to be served concurrently.
The men, all in their 20s, had faced up to life in prison. They were acquitted of three charges, including planning to wage war against the U.S. and Afghanistan — allies of Pakistan.
The men said nothing when the verdict was read out, Deputy Prosecutor Rana Bakhtiar said. Previously, the men claimed they were tortured by Pakistani police and FBI agents, charges denied by authorities here and the U.S. Their lawyers said they would appeal the case. (They must have thought they were in an American court where the ACLU would have sympathized with them and put the police on trial)
The men have been identified as Ramy Zamzam of Egyptian descent, Waqar Khan and Umar Farooq of Pakistani descent, and Aman Hassan Yemer and Ahmed Minni of Ethiopian descent. They were reported missing by their families in November after one left behind a farewell video showing scenes of war and casualties and saying Muslims must be defended.
Umar Farooq’s father, Khalid Farooq, called the verdict “a great disappointment” and insisted the men had not planned to fight in Afghanistan, but had wanted to do humanitarian work such as helping orphans. (Oh, that’s rich)
The men were arrested at Farooq’s home in Sargodha after he said he told them to avoid Afghanistan. Khalid Farooq, an American of Pakistani descent who also has a home and business in Alexandria, Virginia, was held for 20 days.
“I will right away go to the high court, even to the International Court of Justice, to get these innocent youths justice,” said Farooq, who was not allowed to watch the trial. “I have not had a chance to see my son or the other fellows. I hear they are very frustrated and need to be consoled.” (Awwwww, gee it looked like they were laughing in the video)
American officials have said little in public about the trial, and on Thursday, embassy spokesman Richard Snelsire said only that the U.S. respects the decision of the Pakistani courts.
A spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said Thursday that the group is evaluating the verdict. FOX NEWS

Images can be a powerful weapon to be deployed in the battle for public opinion and Israel is constantly a victim of photo bias. A single photo can say more than thousands of words printed in a story. Perhaps that’s why The Independent chose to include the photo below in an article addressing Israel’s offer to relax its blockade of Gaza.
After all, what could be more symbolic of suffering and mistreatment than the image of small children behind bars?
These images raise a number of questions:
To what extent do photographers “stage” their photos in order to capture images that fit a particular newsframe or agenda?
This was part of a series of photos taken from the same location on the same day by Mohammed Abed for Getty / AFP, which we were able to track down. A look at some of these paints a very different portrait of the scene.
Of course, some photos don’t fit the accepted context and may not make it into the mainstream media. If a media outlet is trying to portray starving Gazans suffering under an Israeli blockade, the following photos might present an inconvenient truth: Gaza supermarkets are overflowing with food and other consumer goods.

The Illinois State Police have rescinded its offer to a prominent Muslim imam jihadist who was to be the department’s first-ever Muslim chaplain. In statement, the state police officials say the appointment of Sheikh Kifah Mustapha as a volunteer chaplain is “being denied” following a background investigation.
In a statement state police officials said Sheikh Kifah Mustapha, the associate director of the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, could not serve as a volunteer chaplain “due to information revealed during the background investigation.”
Last December, Mustapha was one of seven religious leaders trained in Springfield to become volunteer state police chaplains. State police said they discovered after all seven volunteers completed the training that detailed background checks had not been performed.
But shortly after Mustapha’s appointment, Steve Emerson, executive director of the Washington-based Investigative Project on Terrorism, criticized Illinois law enforcement for ignoring Mustapha’s history as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the case against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, once the nation’s largest Muslim charity.
The foundation’s two founding members were sentenced last year to 65 years in prison each for funneling millions of dollars to Hamas, a militant Palestinian group that the U.S. has labeled terrorist but also does social work. Mustapha raised money for the group in Chicago.

EURO-SLUDGE vote AGAINST banning the burqa

MPs from 47 countries have unanimously voted against a general ban on the wearing of the burka in public.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Europe’s human rights watchdog, the Council of Europe, passed a resolution warning that if governments imposed such a ban they would be denying women “who genuinely and freely desire to do so” their right to cover their faces.
But while the Assembly opposed a general ban, it left the door open for targeted laws against the burka, pointing out that legal restrictions may be justified “for security purposes, or where the public or professional functions of individuals require their religious neutrality, or that their face can be seen”.
The vote came in Strasbourg amid continuing controversy in France over efforts to introduce a general burka ban.
The Muslim Council of Britain has attacked French president Nicolas Sarkozy as “patronising and offensive” after he declared: “The burka is not a sign of religion, it is a sign of subservience. We cannot accept to have in our country women who are prisoners behind netting, cut off from all social life, deprived of identity.”
Belgium’s lower house of parliament has already voted unanimously for such a ban. If unamended by the upper house – the Senate – the ban would be the first of its kind in Europe, introducing into Belgium’s criminal code a prohibition on the wearing in public places of “clothing that hides the face”.
It also called on Switzerland to repeal as soon as possible its general ban on the construction of minarets, which it described as discriminatory. UK MIRROR H/T Lee

Israeli Air force aircraft landed during the past weekend at a military base in Saudi Arabia and unloaded large quantities of military gear, according to a report published Wednesday by Islamic website Islam Times. The report claimed the equipment was unloaded at a base in the city of Tabuk, in the north western part of the country, ahead of a possible strike on Iran.
The controversial report was also published by the Iranian news agency Fars, under the title “Suspicious military activity of the Zionist regime in Saudi Arabia.”

In the face of Iran’s race to obtain nuclear weapons, Israel strengthened its foothold in space with the successful launch of a spy satellite, which defense officials said would provide the IDF with unprecedented operational capabilities.
“This provides Israel with greater operational flexibility, since we now have another set of eyes on a target,” Chaim Eshed, director of space programming at the Defense Ministry’s Research and Development Directorate (MAFAT), told The Jerusalem Post. “This means that we have increased the rate we can visit a target.” The next spy satellite to be launched will be called Opsat 3000. Four Christians were arrested and thrown out of a public Arab festival in Michigan for doing nothing more than engaging in peaceful dialogue and videotaping the event.
Shouts and cheers of “Allahu akbar!” we were all being led away from the festival in handcuffs.
In what can only be described as police enforcement of Sharia law at the annual Dearborn Arab International Festival, last Friday night Dearborn Police Officers arrested four Christian missionaries and illegally confiscated their video cameras which were recording the events surrounding their arrests. The Thomas More Law Center, a public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, today announced it is representing all of the Christian missionaries.
Arrested on charges of Breach of the Peace are: Negeen Mayel, Dr. Nabeel Qureshi, Paul Rezkalla, and David Wood. Mayel, an eighteen year old female, whose parents emigrated from Afghanistan and a recent convert from Islam to Christianity, was also charged with failure to obey a police officer’s orders. She was approximately 100 feet away and videotaping a discussion with some Muslims when her camera was seized.
Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, “These Christian missionaries were exercising their Constitutional rights to free speech and the free exercise of religion, but apparently the Constitution carries little weight in Dearborn, where the Muslim population seems to dominate the political apparatus. It’s apparent that these arrests were a retaliatory action over the embarrassing video of the strong arm tactics used last year by Festival Security Guards. This time, the first thing police officers did before making the arrests was to confiscate the video cameras in order to prevent a recording of what was actually happening.
Qureshi and Mayel are former Muslims who are now Christians. Mayel’s parents emigrated from Afghanistan. Wood is a former atheist. All are from a Christian group called Acts 17 Apologetics. In the following video after the arrest, Qureshi said his group took “extra precautions” to prevent disruptions by not handing out pamphlets and to speak only to people “who first approached us”:
Qureshi said people at the festival recognized his group from its visit in 2009. Last year, the Acts 17 Apologetics team was escorted from the grounds while being allegedly assaulted by security personnel and several attendees.
Thompson continued, “Contrary to the comments made by Police Chief Ron Haddad, (HADAD? Is that a Muslim name?) our Constitution does not allow police to ban the right of free speech just because there are some hecklers. Not all police officers approve of the way their department treated these Christians.”
Robert Muise, Senior Trial Counsel with the Law Center in charge of the case, yesterday faxed a letter to Chief Haddad demanding that the three video cameras and tapes illegally seized from the missionaries be immediately returned. No hating, no disturbing, no harassing… It remains only to be concluded that we were arrested simply for being Christian Preachers at the Arab Festival in Dearborn.
One witness named Steven Atkins, a resident of Toronto, Canada, said, “I never thought I would see this in America.” Atkins added, “It’s becoming more restrictive here than in Canada.”
“When Dr. Qureshi was arrested I heard people clapping and applauding, and some said ‘Allahu akbar,’” he said. “It was an intense discussion, but it was not unruly. … There was no threat of violence.” ANSWERING MUSLIMS
