Exclusive new translations from Arabic websites reveal Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf seriously deceives New Yorkers about his real intention which is to infiltrate Sharia law in America through his Ground Zero mosque.

Is Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf — founder of the hugely controversial Ground Zero mosque — lying to the American public and his fellow New Yorkers? We have uncovered extraordinary contradictions between what he says in English and what he says in Arabic that raise serious questions about his true intentions in the construction of the mosque.
On May 25, 2010, Abdul Rauf wrote an article for the New York Daily News insisting:
My colleagues and I are the anti-terrorists. We are the people who want to embolden the vast majority of Muslims who hate terrorism to stand up to the radical rhetoric. Our purpose is to interweave America’s Muslim population into the mainstream society.
Oh, really? Only two months before, on March 24, 2010, Abdul Rauf is quoted in an article in Arabic for the website Rights4All entitled “The Most Prominent Imam in New York: ‘I Do Not Believe in Religious Dialogue.’”
Yes, you read that correctly and, yes, that is an accurate translation of Abdul Rauf. And Right4All is not an obscure blog, but the website of the media department of Cairo University, the leading educational institution of the Arabic-speaking world.
In the article, the imam said the following of the “religious dialogue” and “interweaving into the mainstream society” that he so solemnly seems to advocate in the Daily News and elsewhere:
This phrase is inaccurate. Religious dialogue as customarily understood is a set of events with discussions in large hotels that result in nothing. Religions do not dialogue and dialogue is not present in the attitudes of the followers, regardless of being Muslim or Christian. The image of Muslims in the West is complex which needs to be remedied.
But that was two months ago. More recently — in fact on May 26, one day after his Daily News column – Abdul Rauf appeared on the popular Islamic website Hadiyul-Islam with even more disturbing opinions. That’s the same website where, ironically enough, a fatwa was simultaneously being issued forbidding a Muslim to sell land to a Christian, because the Christian wanted to build a church on it.
In his interview on Hadiyul-Islam by Sa’da Abdul Maksoud, Abdul Rauf was asked his views on Sharia (Islamic religious law) and the Islamic state. He responded:
Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more then just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Sharia that are required to govern. It is known that there are sets of standards that are accepted by [Muslim] scholars to organize the relationships between government and the governed.
Punishment for stealing under Shari'a law
When questioned about this, Abdul Rauf continued:
“Current governments are unjust and do not follow Islamic laws.” He added: New laws were permitted after the death of Muhammad, so long of course that these laws do not contradict the Quran or the Deeds of Muhammad … so they create institutions that assure no conflicts with Sharia.
In yet plainer English, forget the separation of church and state. Abdul Rauf’s goal is the imposition of Shariah law — in every country, even democratic ones like the U.S.
But these attitudes are nothing new for the (alas, few) people who have been paying attention. Way back on September 30, 2001, Feisal Abdul Rauf was interviewed on 60 Minutes by host Ed Bradley. Their verbatim dialogue from this CBS News transcript concluded:
BRADLEY: Are- – are — are you in any way suggesting that we in the United States deserved what happened?
Imam ABDUL RAUF: I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened, but the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.
BRADLEY: OK. You say that we’re an accessory?
Imam ABDUL RAUF: Yes.
BRADLEY: How?
Imam ABDUL RAUF: Because we have been an accessory to a lot of — of innocent lives dying in the world. In fact, it — in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.

The Feisal Abdul Rauf who spoke to 60 Minutes in 2001 is the same Abdul Rauf who, in the last couple of months, espoused the spread of Sharia law on Arabic websites and said the opposite in the pages of the Daily News. During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, John Brennan described violent extremists as victims of “political, economic and social forces,” but said that those plotting attacks on the United States should not be described in “religious terms.”

He repeated the administration argument that the enemy is not “terrorism,” because terrorism is a “tactic,” and not terror, because terror is a “state of mind” — though Brennan’s title, deputy national security adviser for counterterrorism and homeland security, includes the word “terrorism” in it. But then Brennan said that the word “jihad” should not be applied either.

The technical, broadest definition of jihad is a “struggle” in the name of Islam and the term does not connote “holy war” for all Muslims. However, jihad frequently connotes images of military combat or warfare, and some of the world’s most wanted terrorists including Usama bin Laden commonly use the word to call for war against the West.

Brennan defined the enemy as members of bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network and “its terrorist affiliates.” But Brennan argued that it would be “counterproductive” for the United States to use the term, as it would “play into the false perception” that the “murderers” leading war against the West are doing so in the name of a “holy cause.”

“Moreover, describing our enemy in religious terms would lend credence to the lie propagated by Al Qaeda and its affiliates to justify terrorism — that the United States is somehow at war against Islam,” he said. The comment comes after Brennan, in a February speech in which he described his respect for the tolerance and devotion of Middle Eastern nations, referred to Jerusalem on first reference by its Arabic name, Al-Quds.

Since 9/11, at least 30 terrorist plots against the United States have been thwarted, in large part because our counter-terrorism officials have had the tools they need to keep us safe. However, since taking office, President Obama has consistently scaled back or scheduled for elimination many of the very tools that have been so successful over the past decade.
The pace and number of attempted terror attacks against the U.S. over the past nine months has surpassed the number of attempts during any previous one-year period, according to an internal Department of Homeland Security report issued on Friday, May 21.
Faisal Shahzad was arrested on May 3 aboard a plane about to depart New York's JFK Airport for Dubai and charged with driving a Nissan Pathfinder stuffed with gasoline, fireworks, propane and fertilizer into New York's Times Square
The report notes chillingly that while US officials “lack insights” they believe that “operatives are in the country and could advance plotting with little or no warning.”
John Walker Lindh, now 29, was raised in Maryland and California. He converted to Islam in 1997 and traveled to Afghanistan in May 2001 to fight with the Afghan Taliban against the Northern Alliance. He was captured by the Northern Alliance on November 25, 2001. He pled guilty to serving in the Taliban's army and carrying weapons and is serving a 20-year sentence in a federal prison
The DHS “Intelligence Note,” a short, non-classified report, makes concrete the concerns of a number of homeland security experts who have discussed with ABC News the pace and nature of the individual attempts.
New York-born and Chicago-raised Jose Padilla converted to Islam and married an Egyptian woman. was arrested in 2002 and held for most of the next three-and-a-half years in a military prison as an "enemy combatant." He was suspected of, though never charged with, conspiring to explode a so-called "dirty bomb." He was ultimately indicted and convicted for conspiring to murder and kidnap people overseas. In January 2008, he was sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison.
The report notes that al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Pakistani Taliban have “expanded their focus” to include the United States.
Mohammed Rauf, became a U.S. citizen in 1999, five years after moving to the states from Pakistan. The Ohio truck driver, now 40, was arrested in 2003 and accused of conspiring to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge. He pled guilty in 2003 to conspiracy and providing support to al Qaeda and was sentenced to 30 years
Homeland Security and law enforcement officials interviewed by ABC News on the condition their names not be used are concerned that the pace will continue to ramp up and that increasingly the attackers will be difficult-to-detect homegrown extremists.
Anwar al-Awlaki was born in New Mexico in 1971. His family returned to Yemen in 1978 and Awlaki was raised there until he was 18. From 1991 to 2002, Awlaki lived, attended school and served as an imam in the U.S. He was linked to two different 9/11 hijackers while an imam in San Diego and Virginia. He has lived in Yemen since 2004, and is considered by U.S. intelligence sources to be an al Qaeda recruiter. His name has surfaced as an inspiration in a dozen terror plots in the U.S., Britain and Canada. Accused Ft. Hood shooter Nidal Hasan exchanged email messages with Awlaki prior to the November shooting at the U.S. Army base, and accused Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad reportedly told interrogators he was inspired by Awlaki.
“Recent attempted attacks and plots in the United States progressed to an advanced stage largely because of these groups’ ability to use operatives that have access and familiarity with the U.S. and their employment of new and varied attack plans,” the three-page note concludes.
Six Yemeni-Americans from the Buffalo, N.Y. , area traveled to Afghanistan in spring 2001 and visited an al Qaeda training camp. All six of the men were arrested and pled guilty to providing support to a foreign terrorist organization and received sentences ranging from seven to 10 years
“Public statements highlighting group leaders’ intent to strike & and probable terrorist perception of success in challenging the U.S. even through failed attacks, suggest al Qaeda and associated groups will try to conduct operations in the United States with increased frequency.”
Al Qaeda's senior American operative and media advisor was born Adam Pearlman in Southern California in 1978. His Jewish father changed the family name to Gadahn after converting to Christianity. Adam Gadahn was obsessed with death metal as a teenager, but then began studying Islam at age 17 after moving in with his grandparents. He moved to Pakistan in 1998 and stopped speaking to his family in 2001. He became senior lieutenant to Osama Bin Laden and a video producer for al Qaeda. In frequent internet videos, Gadahn has fomented jihad against the U.S. In a 2005 video, he praised the "echo of explosions and the slitting of the throats of the infidels." He has been charged with treason and placed on the FBI's Most Wanted list.
The attacks included the alleged May 1 attempt by Faisal Shahzad to detonate a car bomb in Times Square and the attempted Christmas Eve bombing of a Northwest Airlines Flight 253 by a suspect who managed to carry high powered explosives aboard the aircraft concealed in his underwear.
Five American citizens in their teens and early 20s from the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. were arrested in Pakistan in December 2009. They were said to be trying to link up with militant groups to fight against American troops in Afghanistan. Umer Farooq, Ramy Zamzam, Ahmed Minni, Waqar Khan, and Aman Yasir, none older than 22, knew each other from their mosque. In March they were charges by Pakistani authorities with planning attacks in Afghanistan, which could entail life sentences, as well as multiple other charges.
In each attempt, U.S. intelligence failed to detect and prevent the attacks and it was only through failures in the construction of the improvised explosive devices that the attacks did not cause mass causalities.
In 2007, the feds indicted five of the men on charges of conspiring to attack the Army's Fort Dix and kill U.S. soldiers. Dritan and Shain Duka were convicted and sentenced to life plus 30 years, while Eljvir Duka and Mohamad Shnewer were sentenced to life. Serdar Tartar was sentenced to 33 years. Only Shnewer, originally from Jordan, was a naturalized citizen; the three Duka brothers had entered the U.S. illegally as children from Macedonia. Agron Abdullahu, originally from Kosovo, pled guilty to a weapons charge and received five years.
More worrisome even that these attacks — both of which involve suspects who allegedly spent time at terror camps abroad — is the possibility, states the DHS document, of “an attack strategy that does not rely on outside support or travel abroad,” which “diminishes opportunities for discovery and disruption.”
Omar Hammami, now 26, was born in Alabama to a Syrian immigrant father and a Southern Baptist mother and raised as a Christian. He began to identify as a Muslim in high school and is now the most prominent of 20 or so Americans in the ranks of an Islamist guerilla army called the Shabab that is fighting for control of Somalia.
The DHS document also warns that both the Northwest 253 and Times Square incidents, like attempts several prior successful and attempted attacks, featured a link between the terror suspects and radical Muslim cleric Anwar Awlaki, who was born in the U.S. but is now based in Yemen.
In February, Najibullah Zazi pled guilty to a plot to bomb New York City's subways. Sentencing is scheduled for June 25. Born in Afghanistan in 1985, Zazi and his family moved to Queens in 1999. Zazi attended high school in Queens but dropped out. After a 2008 trip to Pakistan, Zazi returned to the U.S. and relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he worked driving an airport shuttle. Authorities learned that Zazi was involved in a plot to attack the subways and placed him under surveillance. He was later arrested and ultimately charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.
The charismatic preacher, called by the report a “violent extremist ideologue,” is now the subject of a widely reported manhunt by the US in an effort to kill him. It is a highly unusual measure for the U.S. to take against a U.S. born target.
A Palestinian-American born and raised in Virginia, Nidal Hasan will stand trial in a military court for allegedly killing 13 people and attempting to kill 32 others during a November 5, 2009 shooting rampage at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, Texas base. Hasan served as an Army psychiatrist, was about to be deployed to Afghanistan at the time of the shooting. U.S. officials have told ABC News that Hasan exchanged numerous emails with reputed al Qaeda recruiter Anwar Awlaki

The man now known as David Headley was born in the U.S. in 1960 as Daood Sayed Gilani to an American mother and a Pakistani father. In 2006, Gilani changed his name to David Coleman Headley, apparently to make travel to other countries easier. He was arrested in 2009 and charged with involvement in the Mumbai attacks of November 2008, in which Islamist terrorists killed nearly 200 people. He is accused of traveling to India five times to scout locations for the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba. He pleaded guilty to 12 federal charges in March.

INDONESIA, the largest Muslim country in the world, has a problem with babies smoking cigarettes.
Taking a deep drag on his cigarette while resting on the steering wheel of his truck, he looks like a parody of a middle-aged lorry driver. But the image covers up a much more disturbing truth: At just the tender age of two, Ardi Rizal’s health has been so ruined by his 40-a-day habit that he now struggles to move by himself. The four-stone Indonesia toddler is certainly far too unfit to run around with other children – and his condition is set to rapidly deteriorate.
But, despite local officials’ offer to buy the Rizal family a new car if the boy quits, his parents feel unable to stop him because he throws massive tantrums if they don’t indulge him. His mother, Diana, 26, wept: ‘He’s totally addicted. If he doesn’t get cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick.’ But in spite of this, his fishmonger father Mohammed, 30, said: ‘He looks pretty healthy to me. I don’t see the problem.’
Ardi’s youth is the extreme of a disturbing trend. Data from the Central Statistics Agency showed 25 per cent of Indonesian children aged three to 15 have tried cigarettes, with 3.2 per cent of those active smokers.A video of a four-year-old Indonesian boy blowing smoke rings appeared briefly on YouTube in March, prompting outrage before it was removed from the site.
Child advocates are speaking out about the health damage to children from second-hand smoke, and the growing pressure on them to smoke in a country where one-third of the population uses tobacco and single cigarettes can be bought for a few cents. UK DAILY MAIL

An Army veteran in Wisconsin will be allowed to display an American flag inside his apartment window ONLY until Memorial Day because the management has decided the symbol honoring his service in Iraq and Kosovo must come down the day after.
Dawn Price, 27, of Oshkosh, Wis., said she received a call from officials at Midwest Realty Management early Wednesday indicating that she and her husband, Charlie, would be allowed to continue flying the American flag they’ve had in their window for months through the holiday weekend. The couple had previously been told they had to remove the flag by Saturday or face eviction due to a company policy that bans the display of flags, banners and political or religious materials.

“It’s basically an extension so we can fly the flag on Memorial Day,” Price told FoxNews.com. “It does need to come down after that.” Charlie Price, 28, served tours of duty as a combat engineer in Iraq and Kosovo, his wife said. To honor his eight years of service, she began decorating their apartment during Veterans Day in November. An American flag topped off the display, she said. ”I knew it made Charlie really proud to see that,” she said. “And this isn’t something new. This has been up for quite some time now.”
Veterans’ groups were furious at the realtors’ refusal to allow the flag to fly. ”As a veteran, it sickens me that the Dawn and Charlie Price’s building management company would imply that the American flag could be construed as offensive by their residents,” said Ryan Gallucci, a spokesman for AmVets.
“We’re talking about our most revered national symbol. This is insulting to anyone who has defended our flag honorably, like Charlie Price.”
Dawn Price said she now works to amend the federal Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005, which states no “condominium association, cooperative association, or residential real estate management association” may stop someone from flying the American flag. The law, however, DOES NOT apply to renters.
Officials at Midwest Realty Management, issued this statement “This policy was developed to insure that we are fair to everyone as we have many residents from diverse backgrounds,” the statement read. “By having a blanket policy of neutrality we have found that we are less likely to offend anyone and the aesthetic qualities of our apartment communities are maintained.” (Then why the hell are they in this country? Throw them out)
A Facebook group created by Dawn Price, “Freedom to Display the American Flag,” had roughly 2,000 members as of Wednesday. ”As a father of a son [who] is currently serving in Iraq this blackens my heart!!!!” read one comment. “These men and women sign a blank check up to and including their life!” FOX NEWS

BRAVO PAMELA! NY Daily News accuses Atlas Shrugs’ Pamela Geller of “launching a crusade against the Islamization of America.”
A bikini-wearing blogger with Tea Party ties has placed ads on city buses aimed at outraging Muslims.
“Fatwa on your head? Is your community or family threatening you? Leaving Islam?” read the ads bought by rabble-rouser Pamela Geller and the New York-based Stop the Islamization of America.
They also direct Muslims to a Web site urging them to leave the “falsity of Islam.”
Geller, 51, a leader in the fight against the proposed Ground Zero mosque, said she was “thrilled” that the ads were up – and doesn’t care if they offend Muslims. ”Will it bother Islamic supremacists? Yes,” she said.
Geller said she spent $10,000 – money raised by readers of her Atlas Shrugs blog – for 40 ads appearing on the sides of buses citywide for a month. ”There ought to be ads also for people who want to leave Islam,” she said. “Their lives are threatened.”
Similar bus ads have run in Miami – over the objections of local Muslims, who called them a “smoke screen for hatred” – and more are planned for Detroit.

An archconservative on the liberal upper West Side, Geller worked at the Daily News on the business side during the 1980s before moving to The New York Observer – a gig that apparently gave her access to City Hall, where she was photographed with Mayor Bloomberg.
Geller made a splash in the right-wing blogosphere four years ago by videotaping a denunciation of Palestinian terrorists – while dressed in a bathing suit and frolicking in the surf off Israel.
A year later, the racy right-winger donned another bikini to send Christmas greetings to the troops in Iraq. ”I want to thank the troops for sacrificing everything so I can be here in my bathing suit opening up my incredibly big mouth and saying exactly what I want,” she said.
Geller wears a tight-fitting Superman outfit on her blog, which is replete with attacks on Islam and unfounded claims about President Obama. Her blog is popular with the political right, and it earned her an invitation to speak at a recent Tea Party convention in Tennessee.
Her bus ads, however, angered Muslims in Astoria, Queens, yesterday. ”I feel angry, so angry, when people want to target my religion,” said Ikraine Chemssy, 24. ”I think it’s stupid, sorry,” said Souad Azzam, 45. “You are free to believe whatever you want. If you are in it by force, you are not a real Muslim.”
Asked about the controversial ads, MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said they “did not violate the MTA’s advertising guidelines.” NY DAILY NEWS via Atlas Shrugs

Even the headline “tea party ties” is misleading. Ties because I spoke at tea party? A “crusade” because we offer a website to apostates and Muslims who want to leave Islam?
The SIOA bus campaign “leaving Islam” is not aimed at outraging Muslims. It’s to provide information to the Rifqa Barys of the world (who inspired thead campaign). It is telling that the reporter didn’t know who Rifqa Bary was. This is how the media positions and excuses acts of violence and jihad by giving them reason (ie GITMO).
Should Jews be outraged by Jews for Jesus? The reporter kept asking me, “aren’t you afraid?” Which makes my point, doesn’t it? The reporter got everything wrong. He even got the surf wrong on the bikini vlog. (It was Florida, clown.)
The bus story has set the media on fire. Just for knowing, I did interviews with a hostile CNN reporter, an AP reporter, and will be on the Lou Young segment on CBS News (local NYC).
All very hostile, all very subjugated and uninformed. The bus ad is about religious liberty. Period. It’s no biggie. I am so sick of hearing that it’s offensive to Muslims. What about apostates? Jews for Jesus can proselytize all over the city — who cares?

Palestinian Authority (PA) Fatah security forces, trained in Jordan by United States Lt. Gen. Keith Dayton, is a formidable potential enemy and that the IDF needs to know how to fight them.

The Kfir brigade, created December 2005 to deal with unrest in Israel’s Judea and Samaria regions, trained extensively in urban warfare and simulated a scenario in which IDF soldiers were pitted against the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority’s new American-trained military.
“This is a trained, equipped, American-educated force,” Mizrahi said. “This means that at the beginning of a battle, we will pay a higher price. A force like that can shut down an urban area with four snipers… It is a proper infantry force facing us and we need to take that into account. They have attack capabilities and we do not expect them to give up easily.”
Keith Dayton himself has expressed belief that his PA army would likely attack the Jewish state in the event that Israel does not give in to the demands of the Middle East Quartet, comprising America, Russia, the United Nations and European Union. At a May 2009 lecture in Washington, Dayton indicated that if Israel does not surrender Judea and Samaria to the PA within two years, the Fatah forces he and his fellow American officers are currently training could easily turn their guns on the Israelis.
“With big expectations, come big risks,” Dayton said. “There is perhaps a two-year shelf life on being told that you’re creating a state, when you’re not.”
Following these remarks, United States Defense Secretary Robert Gates extended Dayton’s tour of duty for an additional two years and gave him the added responsibility of serving as deputy to President Barack Obama’s Middle East Envoy George Mitchell. The United States has already poured over $300 million into the new PA army and the acknowledged prospect of that army attacking the State of Israel has not deterred Washington from continuing to arm, train and finance it. The Washington Post quoted an Obama administration official as saying, “We have better operational coherence with virtually all of our NATO allies than we have with the United States Marine Corps.”
The US ambassador to Afghanistan, retired three-star Army Gen. Karl W. Eikenberry, reportedly made a comment about there being 41 nations serving in Afghanistan — and a 42nd composed of the Marine Corps. Some officials call the new Marine enclave in Nimruz Province “Marinestan” — as if, out of a Kipling or Conrad novel, the Marines have gone rogue to set up their own independent province of operations.”
Since World War Two, the Marines have turned up almost anywhere that America finds itself in a jam against supposedly unconquerable enemies — in bloody places like Inchon and the Chosin Reservoir in Korea, at Hue and Khe Sanh during the Vietnam War, at the two bloody sieges of Fallujah in Iraq and now in Afghanistan.
Over the last two centuries, two truths have emerged about the Corps. One, they defeat the toughest of America’s adversaries under the worst of conditions. And two, periodically their way of doing things — and their eccentric culture of self-regard — so bothers our military planners that some higher-ups try to curb their independence or end the Corps altogether.
After the Pacific fighting, Defense Secretary Louis Johnson wanted to disband the Corps. What good were amphibious landings in the nuclear age? Johnson asked. His boss, President Harry Truman, agreed and didn’t like the cocky Marines either. Then came Korea — and suddenly the Pentagon wanted more Marines. The fighting against hard-core North Korean and Communist Chinese veterans was as nasty as anything seen in three millennia of organized warfare. The antiquated idea of landing on beaches once again proved a smart way to outflank the enemy.
Handcuffing our troops in the battlefield
The Marines survived Korea, Louis Johnson and Harry Truman — and continued to carve out their own logistics, air-support and tactical doctrine. Marine self-sufficiency was due to lingering distrust dating back to the lack of air and naval support in World War Two, and to Marine paranoia that the other services liked their combative spirit but not their independence. We are once again seeing one of those periodic re-examinations of the Corps. This time, the old stereotype of the lone-ranger, gung-ho Marines supposedly doesn’t fit too well with fighting sophisticated urban counterinsurgency under an integrated, international command.
After all, America is fighting wars in which we rarely hear of the number of enemy dead, but a great deal about the need to rebuild cities and infrastructure. In Afghanistan, there have been rumors about a new medal for “courageous restraint” to honor soldiers who hesitated pulling the trigger against the enemy out of concern about harming civilians. The Marines are now starting to redeploy to Afghanistan from Iraq and are building a huge base in Delaram. They plan to win over southern Afghanistan’s remote, wild Nimruz province that heretofore has been mostly a no-go Taliban stronghold.
While NATO forces concentrate on Afghanistan’s major cities, the Marines think they can win over local populations their way, take on and defeat the Taliban and bring all of Nimruz back from the brink — with their trademark warning “no better friend, no worse enemy.” So once again, the Marines are convinced that their own ingenuity and audacity can succeed where others have failed. And once again, not everyone agrees.
Yet once again, it would be wise not to tamper with the independence of the Marine Corps, given that its methods of training, deployment, fighting, counterinsurgency and conventional warfare usually pay off in the end. The technological and political face of war is always changing. But its essence — organized violence to achieve political ends — is no different from antiquity. Conflict will remain the same as long as human nature does as well.
The Marines have always best understood that. And from the Marines’ initial mission against the Barbary Pirates to the battles in Fallujah, Americans have wanted a maverick Marine Corps — a sort of insurance policy that kept them safe, just in case. NY POST

The NYPD said it has been trying since last fall to obtain an $8 million federal grant for a radiation detection system, which would instantly read data from 4,500 sensors in cop cars across the region to intercept vehicles carrying explosive devices.
The Obama administration has ALSO eliminated “Securing the Cities” funding two years in a row, saying it was only a three-year pilot program and needs evaluation. Rep. Peter King, (R-L.I.) led Congress to restore $20 million for the program this year and is pushing to get $20 million in 2011.
The money to set up the radiation-reading system in a Lower Manhattan command center would come from funds allocated in 2008 for the “Securing the Cities” program. It took the feds five months to respond to the November request, and only to ask for more information.
After inquiries by The Post on Friday, a Homeland Security spokeswoman said the department now has all the information it needs, and the project “will be approved in the near future.” That news stunned NYPD officials anxiously awaiting a go-ahead.
“Amazing,” Tisch said when informed by a reporter. ”We have our plans in place and the last step was getting the money so we can convert it into real security for the city.”
Urgency to launch the system has heightened since Pakistan-born Faisal Shahzad parked an SUV loaded with propane in crowded Times Square on May 1 and tried to explode a fireball. A dirty bomb would disperse radioactive material.
The NYPD is also pressing for funds to put radiation sensors in each lane of traffic at all bridge and tunnel entrances to the city, Tisch said.

King is calling for a probe of Homeland Security’s grant process. He sent a letter Friday asking the Government Accountability Office to investigate persistent delays a year after a GAO report cited such problems. King was infuriated by a letter he got last week from Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano implying that New York is sitting on $275 million in port and transit security funds, while all that money is in the process of being used — or was held up by the feds.
“That was a shameless attempt by Homeland Security to mislead the people of New York to cover up its recent 25 percent funding cut,” King told The Post. NY POST

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Supreme Court upheld Tuesday the freedom of the head of a charity linked to the Mumbai attacks and blacklisted in the West, quashing government appeals against his release from house arrest. Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, who heads the charity Jamaat-ud-Dawa and who founded the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) faction blamed by India and the United States for the 2008 Mumbai attacks, was declared a free man by a court in Lahore last year.
The verdict had been challenged by Pakistan’s federal and Punjab provincial governments, but the country’s highest court ruled there was insufficient evidence the 60-year-old should be detained. With the charity linked by India to the Mumbai attacks, the ruling was greeted with disappointment in New Delhi, with whom Islamabad wants to resume peace talks that broke down after the Mumbai attacks.
The decision was also likely to ruffle Washington, which sees the charity as a terror group and has put pressure on Pakistan to round up Dawa members.
A three-judge bench at Pakistan’s supreme court headed by Justice Nasir ul Mulk rejected the appeals and upheld the June 2009 order from the high court in Lahore, defence lawyer A.K. Dogar told AFP.
India, which suspended the fragile four-year peace process with its bitter rival after the attacks on Mumbai, expressed disappointment in Tuesday’s decision.

“Enough evidence has been given by India to Pakistan on the role and activities of Hafiz Saeed,” she said, adding Pakistan should take “meaningful action” against him to fulfil its pledge not to harbour militants.

Left wing liberal Muslim asskissers overwhelmingly (29 to 1) approve the construction of an Islamic terrorist sanctuary steps away from Ground Zero. BASTARDS! 
NEW YORK – After hours of contentious public comment, a New York City community board voted late Tuesday to support a plan to build a mosque and cultural center near ground zero.
“It’s a seed of peace,” board member Rob Townley said. “We believe that this is a significant step in the Muslim community to counteract the hate and fanaticism in the minority of the community.”
The vote was 29-to-1 in favor of the plan, with 10 abstentions. The move by the Manhattan Community Board 1, while not necessary for the building’s owners to move forward with the project, is seen as key to obtaining residents’ support.
Others at the meeting had a different view. ”We think it’s an insult,” said Pamela Gellar, executive director of Stop Islamization of America. “It’s demeaning to non-Muslims to build a shrine dedicated to the very ideology that inspired 9/11.”
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, who has been the target of disparaging remarks by Williams for supporting the plans, defended his position and denounced offensive speech directed at him or at Muslims. MSNBC

A Jordanian Muslim teenager accused of trying to blow up a downtown Dallas skyscraper has agreed to enter a guilty plea in return for a prison sentence of no more than 30 years.
According to court records filed Tuesday in a Dallas federal court, Hosam Smadi, 19, has agreed to plead guilty to attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. That’s punishable by up to life in prison, but the plea agreement signed by Smadi recommends no more than 30 years when he enters his plea in court Wednesday.
Smadi signed a statement admitting to leaving what he thought was a truck bomb in a garage beneath the 60-story Fountain Place building in downtown Dallas in September. The device was a decoy provided by FBI agents posing as al-Qaida operatives. LINK H/T The Right Scoop
