Abdirahman Ali Gaall, the man removed from an Aeromexico flight bound for Mexico City Sunday was the subject of a terror warning issued for the U.S.-Mexico border last week, senior U.S. counterterrorism officials told NBC News on Monday.
Homeland Security had asked law enforcement in Houston to be on the lookout for a suspected member of al-Shabaab, an al-Qaida ally based in Somalia, early last week, the sources said. The man was thought to be headed for the United States via Mexico.Gaall is a Somali national but holds resident status in the United States, the counterterrorism sources said. His wife is an American citizen, said one official. MSNBC
The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada has identified the man as Abdirahman Ali Gaal but would not confirm his age or nationality. (But we know his religion!)
The man was removed from an Aeromexico flight that landed at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport Sunday afternoon. The flight was en route to Mexico City but was denied entry into U.S. air space because officials said a man on board was the subject of an outstanding warrant.
When the plane landed around 2:30 p.m. ET, Canadian border services agents and RCMP officers boarded the plane and took Ali Gaal into custody, said Dominque McNeely, a spokesman for the Canadian Border Services Agency. He was detained under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act because he was deemed “inadmissible” to Canada under the provisions of the Act, McNeely said.
There had been no incident on the aircraft during the flight, McNeely said.
Other passengers on the flight from Charles De Gaulle Airport to Mexico City International Airport were re-screened and allowed to re-board the flight, said Lauren Gaches, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
McNeely said his agency got a phone call advising them the flight was going to land in Montreal and that there was a man on board that “could be of interest to us.” In a statement, the TSA also said the U.S. has the right to refuse entry to any flight deemed a threat to its security, but neither the U.S. officials nor McNeely have said what threat the man might have posed.
“All I can confirm is that it was a person of interest that was interviewed by our officers,” McNeely said.
American officials wouldn’t confirm whether the passenger was on the U.S. no-fly list, but Montreal’s Airport Authority and several other sources said the man’s name appears on the list. Ali Gaal is currently being held in a Montreal-area immigration detention centre.

Two Afghan child brides flogged for fleeing forced marriages
Posted: May 31, 2010 Filed under: Children Leave a comment »Two young (13 & 14) Afghan girls who tried to escape their forced arranged marriages were caught at a police checkpoint and sent back to their village where they were publicly whipped 40 times each for trying to flee.
The girls were disguised in boys clothes and had been fleeing for two days through rough terrain from their marriages to older men before they were caught by a policeman in January who ignored their pleas for help and immediately sent them back to their village knowing what awaited them, even though flogging is illegal.
The girls’ abusers videotaped the entire ordeal, but sympathizers with the victims were able to smuggle out this graphic video and get it to the independently operated Afghanistan Human Rights Commission, which released the video on the weekend.
In the video, the girl barely flinches and two men take turns administrating the lashes to the girl’s legs and buttocks. The girl uses her head scarf to cover part of her face and her eyes are closed for most of the flogging. The mullah doing the flogging waits for another man to cover the girl’s face with her scarf before continuing with the punishment. A loud crack can be heard each time the leather strap meets the girl’s body.
New York Times reports according to a Unicef study, from 2000 to 2008, the brides in 43% of Afghan marriages were under 18. Although the Afghan Constitution forbids the marriage of girls under the age of 16, tribal Muslim customs often condone marriage once puberty is reached, or even earlier. Flogging is also illegal.
The Times reports that the two girls from central Afghanistan were also beaten by their forced husbands after refusing to consummate the marriage. When the girls were caught, instead of being referred to a nearby women’s shelter, were returned to former warlord Fazil Ahad Khan, who the Human Rights Commission describes as a self-appointed morals enforcer for the girls’ small village.
Women from the local shelter describe their forced marriages to the Times reporter. One girl says she was sold to pay off her father’s debts when she was 12. Her husband’s family then beat her and used her as a servant.

Israel braces for Turkish, Hizballah, Hamas reprisals.
DEBKA Military sources report Israeli concerns that Turkey may not confine itself to strong diplomatic retaliation for the Israel Navy’s seizure Monday, May 31, of the Marmora, the Turkish vessel leading the flotilla for breaking the Gaza blockade and resort to military action along with the Iranian-backed Hizballah and Hamas. A statement from Ankara threatened “unprecedented and incalculable” reprisals.

DEBKAfile reports from Ankara that the Turkish government is planning to continue pounding the Israeli blockade with more flotillas and have them escorted by Turkish warships and fighter jets. Israel merchant vessels moored outside Ashdod port have been instructed to sail into port and take shelter in case of missile attacks from the Gaza Strip against Ashdod and Ashkelon.
Monday morning, Israeli warplanes headed west over the Mediterranean in support of the still ongoing Israeli commando operation aboard the Turkish Marmora, the scene of violent clashes between Israeli troops and the 600 “peace activists,” some of them armed. Ankaralater reported 15 dead aboard the vessel.
UNARMED ISRAELI SOLDIER STABBED BY “PEACE” ACTIVIST
Israeli army spokesman, Col. Avi Beneyahu, called the incident “an act of terror on the high seas.” Far from being a humanitarian mission, the flotilla was sponsored personally by Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and permit arms supplies and terrorist to reach the Strip unrestricted. It aimed at provoking a widely publicized international incident with fatalities and showing Israel using strong-arm tactics against unarmed peace-lovers.
Its leaders and the nations involved therefore refused to heed warnings that the vessels would be prevented from entering Gaza Port and rejected Israeli offers to ferry their aid cargo overland to the Gaza Strip.
The pro-Hamas passengers were described as mobbing the Israeli commandos as they were dropped onto the Marmara’s deck, using knives and iron bars to beat them and shooting with a sidearm snatched from a soldier and at least two other pistols recovered empty from two of the bodies.
Israeli security forces are preparing for the Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas to go back to shooting missiles and rockets against Israeli towns, in support of the seaborne attack on Israeli commandos. Egypt will face pressure to end its joint embargo on Gaza with Israel at the Arab League Council meeting urgently Tuesday, June 1. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas demanded the session.

Israeli forces have attacked a flotilla of aid-carrying ships aiming to break the country’s siege on Gaza, according to a Turkish aid agency being quoted by Turkish media.
At least two 16 people were killed and more than 30 50 people injured when Israeli troops stormed the Freedom Flotilla early on Monday. The flotilla was attacked when it was 65km off the Gaza coast. Footage from the flotilla’s lead vessel, the Mavi Marmara, appeared to show armed Israeli soldiers boarding the ship and helicopters flying overhead. al-Jazeera
ISRAELI YNET NEWS reporting: An IDF soldier was moderately injured during the raid after being stabbed in the stomach. Three injured people were evacuated by helicopter to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. According to an IDF source, “The sail’s participants were not innocent and used violence against the soldiers. They were waiting for the forces’ arrival.”
The NTV network has been broadcasting images of injured passengers on board one of the ships since the morning hours. Some were evacuated on boats and helicopters. The al-Jazeera network reported that hundreds of soldiers took over the vessels taking part in the sail simultaneously.
According to a reporter on one of the ships, the Israel Defense Forces raided all vessels from the sea and air at the same time and informed all of the passengers that they were under arrest. The Israeli vessels, the report said, attacked the flotilla in international waters with aerial reinforcement, using gas. A Qatari television channel broadcast live the dramatic images from the ships, with Hamas spokespeople giving interviews and vowing to punish Israel for “the new crime”.

According to the IDF, the international activists “prepared a lynch” for the soldiers who boarded the ships at about 2 a.m. Monday morning after calling on them to stop, or follow them to the Ashdod Port several hours earlier.
IDF Navy commandos encountered fierce resistance early Monday morning as they boarded international aid ships on the way to Gaza to break the Israeli blockade of the Strip. According to defense officials, upon boarding the ships the commandos were attacked by activists with rocks, knives and metal pipes.
The soldiers responded with crowd dispersion measures. At one point activists succeeded in stealing the weapon of one of the soldiers, leading to an escalation in violence.
The Navy made initial contact with the flotilla at 11 p.m. on Sunday ordering the ships to follow them to Ashdod Port or otherwise be boarded.
The actual boarding of the ships took place at 2 a.m. Sunday and was yet to be completed by 8 a.m. Activists aboard the ships repeatedly said they would not respond with violence to the navy’s interception of their flotilla prior to the boarding.
Hamas Prime Minister Haniyeh came on Al-Jazeera to condemn the “brutal attack” and called on the UN to intervene on the activists’ behalf. Apparently, IDF attempts to prevent broadcasting from the ships were unable to block the Turkish camera crew on board one of the ships. The flotilla’s change of course earlier in the night to force the confrontation with the navy to occur in daylight seemed to have succeeded. The attack began still under cover of dark, but continued in daylight.
The initial contact took place about 200 km. off the Gaza Coast. Flotilla organizers said they detected three Israel Navy ships on the radar. Passengers on the ships were instructed to don life vests as organizers warned of potential Israeli violence. Israel Radio quoted the flotilla’s organizers as saying they did not expect the navy to meet them so far out at sea.

IDF: Flotilla Passengers Were Violent and Stabbed Soldier

The IDF reports that the crew of the Gaza-bound flotilla lay in wait for the IDF to board their vessel and then attacked IDF soldiers violently. One soldier was stabbed in the stomach with a sharp object, according to the IDF statement.
One of the crew said that one “Navy warship” had contacted the six boats in the flotilla and asked them to identify themselves. They were told the Navy would board the boats if the ships’s crew and passengers do not agree to head for the Ashdod port instead of the Gaza Coast, where Israel maintains sovereignty under the Oslo Accords and does not allow ships to approach without searching them for arms.
International law allows for countries to ask suspicious boats to identify themselves. The vessels’ passengers did not cooperate and called the move “scare tactics” on their streamed broadcasts.
The IDF searched the boats for arms immediately after the takeover. The soldiers were forced to use tear gas after they were attacked with knives, daggers and cudgels, putting their lives in danger.
The flotilla activists, some of whom are identified with terrorist Muslim groups, did not expect a confrontation with the Navy until Monday morning, when the flotilla expected to near the Gaza coast.
Israel was determined not to allow the boats to reach Gaza and set a precedent that would break Israeli sovereignty over the waters in order to prevent terrorists and arms from being smuggled from the Mediterranean Sea as they are from Egypt.
Turkey threatens reprisals after 20 dead reported on pro-Palestinian flotilla

Turkey threatens Israel would suffer incalculable consequences, raising Ankara’s hostility to Israel to a new level. The convoy was sponsored by Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan with two objectives: to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver aid to its inhabitants.
The six boats remaining in the convoy are being escorted to the Israeli port ofAshdod. One source says the Israeli Arab Muslim extremist Raed Salah was among the casualties. The wounded will be treated in hospital. Other passengers will be deported through Ben Gurion international airport. Israeli will deliver its aid cargo to Gaza overland after inspecting its contents.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists on seven ships prepared to set sail for the Gaza Strip on Sunday from international waters close to Cyprus, edging closer to an expected naval showdown as Israeli officials warned they would halt the flotilla from reaching the blockaded territory.

Three Israeli naval craft left a Haifa naval base just after 9 pm and approached the “Freedom Flotilla” after dark on Sunday, according to the Twitter page of Free Gaza, one organization participating in the flotilla.
Two hours later, Israel Radio broadcast a recording of one of the missile boats warning the flotilla, which is carrying humanitarian aid (so they say) and pro-Palestinian activists, not to approach Gaza.
“If you ignore this order and enter the blockaded area, the Israeli navy will be forced to take all the necessary measures in order to enforce this blockade,” the radio message continued. One tweet at about 11 pm said, “We didn’t expect them now,” adding that the participants thought Israeli forces would arrive Monday morning.
This is a help message,” said one post from the flotilla on the Free Gaza website. “We have been contacted by the Israelis but are still fine, don’t worry.” “The signals are going up and down,” the website said. “Israel is doing its best to block the satellite.”
The six-ship convoy carrying aid for Palestinians set sail for Gaza in defiance of an Israeli-led blockade of the terrorist haven territory and warnings that it would be intercepted. The ships, led by a Turkish vessel with 600 people on board, departed from international waters off Cyprus on Sunday afternoon.
Sources in Gaza said some vessels have lost contact with one another, adding that Israeli Navy vessels have begun to call on the boats to identify themselves.
The IDF said naval forces radioed the ships, but were ignored. The army said if the vessels continue to ignore their instructions, forces will begin the process of seizing them.
“If all goes well and there are no problems or interruptions of any kind it should reach Gaza around 2 pm local time tomorrow (Monday),” said Mary Hughes-Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Free Gaza Movement, one of the organizers of the convoy.
Israel has already said it will prevent the convoy from reaching the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, a sliver of territory which Israel has blockaded for three years to prevent weapons and other materials it fears could be used for military purposes from reaching the enclave’s Islamist rulers.
Hamas has been preparing to receive the convoy at the small harbor in Gaza City. But Israeli marine commandos have held drills to practice boarding and searching the ships.

The international community on Friday took another step toward reversing the roles of Israel and Iran, and turning the Jewish state into the Middle East’s nuclear “bad guy.” Ha’aretz analyst Yossi Melman noted that the NPT meeting was only able to produce such a strong resolution because the Obama Administration had essentially betrayed Israel and its security.
At the close of a month-long meeting in New York, the 189 member states of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty signed an agreement calling for a nuclear weapons-free Middle East. The document stipulates that in 2012 a conference will be held aimed at enforcing that decision. Israeli officials decried the fact that Israel was mentioned repeatedly both during the meetings and in the agreement, while Iran was not directly referenced even once.
A statement released by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office at the weekend called the resolution “deeply flawed and hypocritical: It ignores the realities of the Middle East and the real threats facing the region and the entire world. It singles out Israel, the Middle East’s only true democracy and the only country threatened with annihilation. Yet the terrorist regime in Iran, which is racing to develop nuclear weapons and which openly threatens to wipe Israel off the map, is not even mentioned in the resolution.”
Israel announced that since it is a non-signatory state, the NPT has no authority over it, and Jerusalem will not cooperate with the resolution’s implementation. It noted that the problem is not with a state like Israel that never signed the treaty and more or may not be quietly in possession of nuclear weapons for self defense, but rather with a nation like Iran, which has signed the treaty, but flaunts it in order to openly threaten its enemies.
But Obama, notes Melman, is far more interested in his own agenda, even at the cost of Israeli security. ISRAEL TODAY

Three German-built Israeli submarines equipped with nuclear cruise missiles are to be deployed in the Gulf near the Iranian coastline. The first has been sent in response to Israeli fears that ballistic missiles developed by Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, a political and military organisation in Lebanon, could hit sites in Israel, including air bases and missile launchers. The submarines of Flotilla 7 — Dolphin, Tekuma and Leviathan — have visited the Gulf before. But the decision has now been taken to ensure a permanent presence of at least one of the vessels. The case against four men accused of plotting to bomb New York synagogues and shoot down military planes will not focus on whether they were members of a terrorist group, a federal prosecutor said yesterday.
That appeared to sit well with the (left wing) judge, who said she had been referring to the case privately as “the un-terrorist case.” (This judge should be hanged)
The trial is “going to be about whether these guys were going to blow something up,” Assistant US Attorney David Raskin said at a pretrial hearing, and a fellow prosecutor said the government will not present any evidence of membership in terrorist groups. ”It’s not going to be about foreign terrorist organizations,” Raskin said. The FBI arrested four MUSLIM men in New York City on Wednesday evening in an alleged plot to detonate a bomb and blow up a military plane.
Officials told The Associated Press the arrests came after a long-running undercover operation that began in Newburgh, NY MOSQUE.
- The names and charges were not immediately known, but authorities said the suspects had planned to detonate a car with plastic explosives outside a temple in the Bronx neighborhood of Riverdale. The investigation had been under way for about a year.FBI officials were expected to announce the arrests Wednesday night.Rep. Peter King of New York, the senior Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, was briefed on the case following the arrests.“This was a long, well-planned investigation, and it shows how real the threat is from homegrown terrorists,” said King. In June 2008, an informant working with the FBI met CROMITIE in Newburgh, New York. CROMITIE explained to the informant that his parents had lived in Afghanistan and that he was upset about the war there and that many Muslim people were being killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan by the United States Military forces.CROMITIE expressed interest in returning to Afghanistan and spoke to the CW about how if he, CROMITIE, were to die a martyr, he would go to “paradise.”
CROMITIE also expressed an interest in doing “something to America.” The following month, CROMITIE and the informant discussed the organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization based in Pakistan, with which the informant claimed to be involved.
CROMITIE stated to the informant that he, CROMITIE, would be interested in joining Jaish-e-Mohammed to “do jihad.“
Beginning in October 2008, the informant began meeting with CROMITIE at a house in Newburgh, New York that the FBI had equipped with concealed video and audio equipment. During meetings at this location, CROMITIE, DAVID WILLIAMS, ONTA WILLIAMS, and PAYEN discussed their desire to attack certain targets in New York, including a synagogue in the Bronx and military aircraft located at the Air National Guard Base.

But this is the religion that refers to Jews as pigs and apes and wants to kill Jews like him. BTW, lighting up the Empire State Building in green for Ramadan was IslamoFascist sympathizer Bloomberg’s idea.
“I think it’s fair to say if somebody was going to try, on that piece of property, to build a church or a synagogue, nobody would be yelling and screaming,” the mayor said. (Jews and Christians didn’t try to blow up the city)

Placing the proposed mosque two blocks from the World Trade Center site has led to an outcry from opponents, including family members of 9/11 victims, who contend the holy place at 45 Park Place would defile the memories of those who perished in the worst terror attack in US history.
Community Board 1 approved the project Tuesday night by a 29-1 vote after a raucous four-hour hearing in which nine members abstained. The meeting got so heated that one young girl, whose father is Muslim and mother is Jewish and who went to testify in favor, decided instead to sit silently.
The issue also continues to fuel an intense debate on the Internet. One commenter likened a mosque near Ground Zero to a convent established on the grounds of Auschwitz. Pope John Paul II ordered the nuns to move in 1993 after years of protests from Jewish leaders.
But Bloomberg argued that blocking the 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center would violate the essence of America. ”What is great about America and particularly New York is we welcome everybody, and if we are so afraid of something like this, what does that say about us?” asked the mayor.
“Democracy is stronger than this. You know the ability to practice your religion was one of the real reasons America was founded. And for us to just say no is just, I think, not appropriate is a nice way to phrase it ”. . . If you are religious, you do not want the government picking religions, because what do you do the day they don’t pick yours?”
Even with Bloomberg on board, the project still has to win approval of the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, because the current building on the mosque site dates to 1857-58 and would have to be razed.
The landmark application has been pending since 1989 and was recently reinstated. The commission is scheduled to hold a hearing and a vote in the early summer.The mosque’s proponents say they are prepared to raise $100 million and hope to accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers on Fridays. The MUSLIM father of a third-grader at Louisville’s Coal Creek Elementary wants the school district to punish the school’s principal for interrupting a presentation he was giving to his son’s class about the Islamic religion.
Seyitriza Tigrek distributed fliers after school this week to Coal Creek parents asking for feedback on the principal and the Boulder Valley School District’s response “regarding his mistakes.”
Tigrek’s complaints stem from a September incident when he asked his son’s teacher if he could make a presentation about Islam to the class. His third-grader, Muhammed, is Muslim and was feeling uncomfortable about fasting during Ramadan because his classmates didn’t understand his religion, according to Tigrek.
“The goal of the presentation was just to help the students understand that there was no need to treat Muhammed differently because of his fasting and his name,” Tigrek’s attorney, Philip Bienvenu, wrote in a letter to Superintendent Chris King and school board members.
Boulder Valley officials said Principal John Kiemele did nothing wrong by interrupting Tigrek’s presentation, which he knew nothing about. ”Mr. Kiemele’s recollection of events is vastly different than Mr. Tigrek’s,” Boulder Valley attorney Melissa Mequi said.
Tigrek said he started his presentation by talking about how people in the Arab culture name their children after religious figures — like Abraham and Mary. At that point, he said, Kiemele walked into the classroom, overheard the discussion, interrupted and “ordered Mr. Tigrek to leave.”
“Mr. Tigrek knows there is anti-Islamic bias present in some of American society since the 9/11 bombings,” Bienvenu wrote. “Mr. Kiemele’s attitude is exactly the kind of xenophobia that should not be part of the education of American children.”
According to the school district’s lawyer, Kiemele walked into the classroom during the presentation and asked to speak to Tigrek and the teacher in the hall after hearing a reference to Abraham. Kiemele said he wanted to review the presentation before it was delivered to the class, but Tigrek “seemed to want to argue,” so Kiemele asked him to make an appointment to have the content of the presentation reviewed.
Because Kiemele knew nothing of the presentation and has a “constitutional obligation to ensure that the school district does not endorse any particular religion,” Mequi said, he felt it best to stop the discussion.
“Mr. Kiemele’s approach to the situation is entirely consistent with what the school district expects of a school principal,” Mequi wrote in a letter to Tigrek’s attorney. “A school principal has an obligation to all the students and parents to uphold ‘the separation of church and state.’”
She went on to write that the district is “very concerned by the inflammatory rhetoric and, frankly, defamatory remarks contained not only in your letter, but apparently being uttered by Mr. Tigrek to other Coal Creek Elementary parents.”
Tigrek told the Camera he has no interest in sitting down and talking with a man who will not admit his error. 
He said Kiemele has yet to explain what he heard that “presented some danger to students or was in some way objectionable.”
Because Tigrek feels the district is ignoring his concerns, he said he’s decided to take action — asking parents and teachers whether they’ve had similar problems and distributing fliers this week outside the elementary. On Tuesday, after Tigrek distributed fliers for the first time, Mequi sent him an e-mail warning him to stop or “the district has the legal right to restrict your access to school 
district property.”
Tigrek returned to the school Wednesday and snapped photos of security officers stationed there, prompting complaints from parents, according to the school district.
In an e-mail Thursday, Principal Kiemele told Mequi, the school district’s attorney, that if Tigrek’s goal is to “get me fired .. then his intent is destructive, and I would need your assistance.” Mequi said the district could restrict the father’s access to the school.”But no decision has been made,” she said.
