According to one theory, Iran was taunting the Israelis to strike first; according to another, it was escalating the confrontation with the West to extract more concessions in negotiations. But some US nuclear and intelligence experts opt for a simpler explanation: Iran has announced its intention of enriching low-grade uranium up to 20 percent purity and has now moved its stock to a new site for reprocessing.

Two Israeli police officers and at least 10 of the Muslim rioters were injured in the ensuing clash. The riots then spread to Arab areas outside the Old City, where young Muslim stone-throwers attacked Israeli police and soldiers. Several arrests were made, but no more injuries were reported.
The violent demonstrations were believed to be in response to last week’s decision by the Israeli cabinet to add the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem to its list of national heritage sites. Both towns are under Palestinian control. The decision to officially recognize the sites as sacred to Jews and improve their preservation as such has already resulted in widespread riots in Hebron and Bethlehem. HEADS bowed in contemplation, hundreds of Muslims yesterday took to praying outside in a London street.
The religious ceremony took place at London’s City University after the institution’s Islamic prayer room was closed following a racist knife attack on four students outside the building last year. But Muslim clerics said they could not worship in a room where other religions also prayed.
The sight of hundreds praying in Northampton Square – which is lined with million-pound townhouses – has now become a familiar sight every Friday lunchtime to mark the Islamic holy day. Last night the University defended the decision to close the Islamic prayer room.
A spokesman said: “Following the incident last year the university responded to concerns from students about their safety by finding alternative space in a more central location. “Practice in other universities show many Muslims pray where others have been – City has already seen its new space used by some of its Muslim students.” UK EXPRESS

It won’t surprise you to learn that CEO Farid Suleman of Citadel, the company that owns the radio station, is a Muslim himself, who had ‘urged’ Rogers to “talk nice about Muslims.” Suleman is widely regarded as the most incompetent executive in broadcasting.

THE shakeup at KSFO has Bay Area listeners wondering: was veteran morning host Lee Rodgers unceremoniously fired after pressure from “ultra-left and pro-Muslim groups?” That’s what Rodgers claims. In an open letter to fans, he said:
“Within one minute of the conclusion of last Thursday’s show, I got the word that it HAD been my last one; cut with no notice, in violation of my contract. (…) I WILL tell you, in all candor, that thanks to [CEO Farid] Suleman’s Citadel management, I could no longer proudly say that the company had never told me what to say or what not to say. There was an obvious cave-in to some ultra-left and pro-Muslim groups, making it unlikely that I would have ever renewed my contract with the company, anyway.”
Citadel has troubles of its own, having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December.
Getting fired, sometimes abruptly, is a way of life for talk radio hosts, especially when they venture into “politically incorrect” territory. In Lee Rodgers’ case, he made Media Matters‘ “Most Outrageous Comments of 2009″ list for saying that, should a terrorist attack occur, a “few million dead Americans” will “wake up” public “to the fact that they have elected an anti-American President.”
Rodgers also earned the wrath of the George Soros Steno Pool for calling Obama “the most corrupt” president in history, and an “incompetent, Muslim-sympathizing fool.”
So did these and other controversial outbursts really get Lee Rodgers’ fired? If so, why would KSFO replace him with someone like Brian Sussman, who promises to “give the Left a major headache” by spending “four hours daily on one of America’s most successful radio stations to expose” the “shenanigans” of “global warming, government tyranny [and] fiscal insanity.”
Like Rodgers, broadcasting industry watcher Brian Maloney has nothing good to say about Citadel CEO Farid Suleman, who he says has “overseen the complete destruction of this once-promising company”:
“Under Suleman’s rule, the company’s left-wing political bias became so unbearable that it convinced Sean Hannity to move his program to another syndicator. Just last month, Citadel admitted that the loss of [#2 rated] Hannity caused it to lose millions in desperately-needed revenue.”
So here’s where we stand: Progressives and/or radical Muslims have tried, and failed, to take down big name talkers like Glenn Beck, Dr. Laura, Don Imus and Rush Limbaugh. Assuming Rodgers is being candid about why he was fired, are AstroTurf activists now setting their sights on more vulnerable local conservative pundits?
While monitoring threats to talk radio coming from “above,” (such as FCC “localism”), we need to watch for leftist AstroTurf campaigns, and worry about implosions caused by ideological incompetence — from within the industry itself.
I guess the price of liberty (and conservative talk radio) really is eternal vigilance. EXAMINER

Leave a comment »“Qasim al-Raimi, a top military commander for al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the group that claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas Day attack, warned Americans in an article published in an online militant magazine that the group is planning new attacks on U.S. soil.
The phrase, “‘we will blow up the earth from below your feet.” is an interesting choice of words. One can’t help but wonder if this is a signal to launch an attack, or a clue to a type of attack, such as subways or maybe an underground parking garage similar to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. It could also allude to the use of IEDs.
“You have attacked us in the midst of our household, so wait for what will attack you in the midst of yours,” al-Raimi said, according to a translation of the message from the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant Web sites. The United States is increasingly worried that Yemen is becoming a significant terrorist staging ground, amid signs that lower-level al-Qaida operatives have been moving into the country from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region.
Washington has pressured Yemen’s government to crack down on the network, and the Pentagon has earmarked some $150 million in military assistance to Yemen to help combat the threat.
Al-Raimi claimed in the article that U.S. efforts have backfired, and only succeded in pushing more Yemenis into the militant fold. “You united us with our people, made our catastrophe one,” he said.
Al-Raimi is one of 23 militants who broke out of a prison in San’a in February 2006 and is at large. Yemeni authorities have said they believe he was involved in the July 2007 suicide bombing that killed eight Spanish tourists and two Yemenis visiting a temple in central Yemen. He escaped a Yemeni military strike in December 2009 that killed a deputy commander and at least 30 other suspected militants. WASHINGTON POST

The creature that’s expected to inherit the Earth following a nuclear holocaust might also be well suited to help prevent man’s atomic self-destruction.
Researchers at Texas A&M University’s Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute have attached radiation sensors to the backs of cockroaches. They hope public-safety officials will one day send the souped-up insects into situations that are too risky for humans.
“Cockroaches really are the perfect medium for this,” says William Charlton, an associate professor of nuclear engineering at the university and a principal investigator on the project. “They can go for extraordinarily long periods of time without food. They exist on every continent except Antarctica. They’re very radiation resistant, and they can carry extremely large amounts of weight compared to their body mass.”
He envisions teams of about 20 remotely-controlled roaches — each carrying one of three types of sensors meant to detect different nuclear materials — that would march through areas of up to a square kilometer and send their readings back to an operator via a tiny, low-energy communications system. This would help officials determine if potentially contaminated areas — such as buildings where they suspect terrorists have planted a dirty bomb — are safe for humans.
The operator will be able to manipulate the insects’ forward and directional movements — cockroaches can’t crawl backward — using devices that apply pressure to parts of their antennas and stimulate their leg muscles. “It’s like a cattle prod for cockroaches,” Charlton says.
Five faculty members and about six graduate students at the institute are working on the project, which is funded by the National Science Foundation. They’re now designing sensors and communications systems that are small enough to fit on a roach’s back, and both devices will use low-energy circuits that could also be installed in cell phones and hand-held computers.
The team originally planned to build bug-like robots, but they soon found that the motor functions consumed too much power. “A biological platform doesn’t take any power to move,” Charlton says. “That really was the breakthrough in the program.”
Cockroaches can run tirelessly for 35 minutes, according to a university document describing the system. And the resilient insect can carry a 3-gram load for months. National Defense Magazine

A judge on Tuesday said Kimberly “Asma” Al-Homsi, 45, and an 18-year-old friend would remain in jail until tried on charges related to the possession of several pipe bombs.
Al-Homsi and Yasinul Alan Ansari, 18, both of Arlington, appeared in a Tarrant County federal court Tuesday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Charles Bleil following their arrest after being pulled over at the end of a police pursuit Saturday.
Bleil said at Tuesday’s hearing that the pair must remain in jail because they are a flight risk. They are charged with a single count each of intentionally possessing an unregistered firearm — in this case a destructive device, the materials for pipe bombs.
During the hearing, federal authorities told Bleil that Al-Homsi has told them during questioning after their arrest that the pair made three pipe bombs out of materials, including ball bearings, purchased February 6 and 7 at Home Depot and Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Authorities did not say whether Al-Homsi said what she planned to do with the explosive devices. Neither Al-Homsi nor Ansari, who will get court-appointed attorneys, has yet entered a plea. About 5 p.m. Saturday, a motorist called 911 from State Highway 360 in Arlington to report that someone in a pickup had pointed a weapon at him in an apparent road-rage incident on West Abram Street.
Police found the truck and tried to pull it over, but the driver did not stop. The pursuit ended in Fort Worth after the truck carrying the pair hit ice at Rosedale Street near Loop 820. One of the pair told officers there was an “incendiary device” in the truck, authorities have said. Authorities found three pipes containing black powder which were detonated by bomb technicians, authorities said.
On Tuesday, they appeared in court wearing the same camouflage clothing they’d had on when arrested. Al-Homsi had shaved her head some time before the police chase. In 2005, Al-Homsi waved a fake grenade at a motorist on Central Expressway during a road-rage incident. She was put on probation for having a hoax bomb. That probation was revoked after July 2007, when she was arrested after a six-hour police standoff at her Arlington home and accused of having a pipe fashioned into an illegal firearm. Police also found black powder, shotgun shells, pipes and putty.
On several occasions, also in 2007, Al-Homsi and a friend were seen conducting what appeared to be surveillance at Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. They were clad in traditional Muslim garb with camouflage pants underneath during at least one of the incidents.
Al- Homsi has also claimed a friendship with Wadih el Hage, a former Arlington resident and former personal secretary of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. He received a life sentence for his part in a bombing conspiracy.
In interviews with The Dallas Morning News and WFAA-TV at the time, Al-Homsi said that she was being harassed because of stereotypes about her religion. She has denied having any links to terrorism. DALLAS NEWS

PESHAWAR: Taliban-linked militants blew up a school in northwest Pakistan, bringing to 16 the number of such attacks this month, officials said Friday.
“Militants blew up 16 boys’ and girls’ schools in the tribal regions of Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber and Dara Adamkhel during the current month,” provincial education minister, Sardar Hussain Babak told AFP. He blamed the attacks on Taliban and other extremist groups, including Lashkar-i-Islam, which has some links to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The latest government boys’ high school to be attacked was blown up overnight in the Mohmand tribal region, officials said. “All 21 rooms in the school building were destroyed after bombs planted in seven different places went off,” local administration official Roshan Khan told AFP.
Another official Maqsood Khan confirmed the incident and said no one was hurt in the attack, which he blamed on the Taliban.
Militants opposed to co-education and advocates of sharia law have destroyed hundreds of schools, mostly for girls, in northwest Pakistan in recent years.
In North West Frontier Province, only 22 per cent of women and girls older than 15 are literate. Only seven per cent of women and girls older than 10 are literate in the semi-autonomous tribal areas, the United Nations has said.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/26/10) – A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy (TERRORIST FRONT) group said today that the Louisiana Army ROTC’s use of props portraying stereotypically-dressed Muslim men crouching behind an oil barrel and sheep highlights the disturbing Islamophobic trend toward viewing all Muslims as “the enemy.”
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said ROTC cadets used the props in a February 20 exercise held just two blocks from a mosque used by students at Tulane University in New Orleans, La. A representative of the Tulane Muslim Students Association called the props “offensive.” (We find Muslims offensive)
“The use of stereotypical images of Muslims and Arabs by those training to be military officers sends the false and disturbing message that our nation is at war with Islam,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper (BUT WE ARE AT WAR WITH ISLAM!). “Our political and religious leaders must speak out against this growing trend toward demonizing Islam and equating Muslims with ‘the enemy.’”
“America’s future military officers should be equipped with the best possible understanding of the places in which they will be operating so they can lead their troops effectively. This understanding is not provided by exposing them to crass (ACCURATE) stereotypes.”
Hooper said other recent incidents indicating a rise in anti-Muslim sentiments include vandalism at a Tennessee mosque, an anti-Islam e-mail circulated by sheriff’s department personnel in Florida, an Islamophobic panel discussion at a conservative conference in Washington, D.C., and the firing of a Muslim employee in California who refused a supervisor’s demand to remove her Islamic head scarf, or hijab. Army ROTC cadets carried M249 light machine guns during lab exercises Feb. 20 that involved the use of props portraying concealed Muslim men on Zimple Quad. One cut-out prop depicted a man crouched behind a sheep, while the other represented a man standing behind an oil barrel. AROTC held the laboratory exercises two blocks from the campus Al-Rahma Mosque.
Master Sergeant Thomas Lewis of Tulane AROTC said the props served as part of a procedure aimed at improving communication through the chain of command. “These props bring cadets to different angles where they have to then report back what they see,” Lewis said. “We verify what they saw or explain to them what they should have reported.”
Ahmed Siddiqui, president of the Tulane Muslim Students Association, said he found the use of props representing stereotypical Muslims offensive and that these laboratory policies portray a negative image of the AROTC. (Who cares?)
“Overseas terrorists use photographs of President Bush as targets during militant training, but the [AROTC] is using pictures of generalized people, not a 
specific insurgent,” Siddiqui said. “The depiction of a Muslim man in traditional Arab clothing hiding behind a sheep and an oil barrel is a stereotype that portrays all Arabs as being enemies of the state.” (They all ARE enemies of the state, including YOU)
Lieutenant Leone Campbell, however, a representative of the University of California Los Angeles AROTC, said its lab exercises have involved the use of props in addition to cadets dressing up as foreigners. “We’ve had cadets build bunkers and dress up as mock Afghanis,” Campbell said. “They’ve had to wear something on their head or a robe — dress up to not look like a cadet.”
Major Bill Pola, a representative of the University of Washington AROTC, said his program uses cut-out props representing people. When asked to describe the props in greater detail, Pola declined to comment.
Master Sergeant Lewis of Tulane said these props help cadets learn to identify people or objects present in the environments they are placed in. “We are training to defend our nation and produce future officers,” Lewis said. “Cadets have to be able to physically identify in order to eliminate a threat or identify it as not a threat.”
Sophomore Kelly Barry, who watched the exercises from across the street, said the AROTC’s use of the props on campus and visible from Broadway Street was offensive. “The cut-outs seemed racist,” Barry said. “Not only were they depicting Muslims, but they were crouching behind sheep and oil barrels. AFGHANISTAN: ‘BACHA BAZI’ BOYS – where very young boys are the ‘entertainment’ for grown men

Then they are made to perform before large groups of men. ALL of them are sexually abused.
“Dancing boys” are a lucrative business. Powerful former warlords and businessmen love to watch them and will pay a lot of money to have their own boy for Bacha Bazi. Some of the boys are traded like swap cards amongst the rich and powerful and if they disobey their “owners” they are killed or brutalised. The trade in boys is well known to the United Nations. According to Nazir Alimy, who compiled a report on the issue for the UN, there is no doubt who is funding this practice and why the police refuse to stop it. “According to our research these dancing boys are used by powerful men for sex,” Mr Alimy said.
Paedophiles and pimps search for young boys so they can sell them or groom them to be trained as “dancing boys”. In one case a journalist goes in the car with a paedophile named Dastager. As they drive, Dastager explains the type of boy he is looking for. Then in broad daylight the “dancing boy master” stops the car, goes to a shopfront and brings a boy back to his the waiting car According to a report prepared for the United Nations there is evidence that the practice of bacha bazi and the sexual abuse of boys is common throughout the north of the country. It confirms that young boys, some of them only 10 years old, are lured into life as a sex slave.
There is also evidence that this type of abuse is spreading throughout Afghanistan.”It’s true they make the boys wear girls’ clothes and make them dance in front of many men,” he said. The powerful customers are often former warlords who helped drive the Taliban out of the north. Others who involve themselves in the trade of boys are wealthy businessmen. Under the Taliban, Bacha Bazi was outlawed. Today it is still a crime but clearly there is no concerted effort being made to stop the practice and the criminal activity that surrounds it.
