Federal officials and police are interviewing a Nigerian man, who allegedly tried to “explode” a powdery substance aboard a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, injuring himself and two other passengers, law enforcement officials said.
The man said he was directed by al Qaeda to explode a small device in flight, over U.S. soil, ABC News has learned. Authorities have no corroboration of that information, and the credibility of the suspect’s statements are being questioned, officials said.
Terrified passengers feared the worst.
The suspect had been in a law enforcement-intelligence database but was not on the government’s no-fly list, according to a law enforcement official. BUT UPI is reporting that the man IS ON THE NO-FLY LIST OF THE UNITED STATES.

“The subject is claiming to have extremist affiliation and that the device was acquired in Yemen along with instructions as to when it should be used,” a federal situational awareness bulletin stated.
Delta spokeswoman Susan Chana Elliott said that “as the plane was getting ready to land” in Detroit “a passenger caused a disturbance” by trying to ignite what was initially reported to be firecrackers. The man was “subdued immediately,” Elliott said. Northwest is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta.
The suspect told authorities that he had explosive powder taped to his leg and used a syringe of chemicals to mix with the powder that was to cause explosion. This is of concert because it is a method of mixing that is consistent with terror techniques.

Northwest Airlines flight 253 landed safely in Detroit at 11:53 a.m. The man, who flew from Nigeria to Amsterdam and then Detroit, was taken into custody at the Detroit airport and was interviewed by authorities there. He was then taken to an area hospital to be treated for burns.
An in-flight emergency was declared when a fire indicator light when on in the cockpit, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The pilot asked for airport rescue and firefighting services, and for law enforcement to meet the flight at gate, the TSA said. ABC NEWS

The Obama administration is going forward with a contentious plan to round up thousands of wild horses in Nevada and other western states which will lead to mass euthanizations and slaughter.
Secretary Salazar, the slaughter czar, has proposed a plan to remove most of the Wild Horses from the West, despite the House having recently passed the “Restore Our American Mustangs Act” (ROAM Act), which would direct the BLM to restore the wild horses to the wild and onto 20 million acres of rangeland. The same amount of BLM lands that a GAO Report admits has been taken from them.
Succinctly stated: 4 Million Cattle on public lands are causing mismanagement and slaughter of American Wildlife across the west, including; Bison, Wolves, and Wild Horses.
Sheryl Crow, advocate for the wild horses, summed up the urgency of the moment, “33,000 horses are being held right now by the BLM and due to budgetary problems, they’re saying now they can’t afford to feed them, which is kind of a great excuse to exterminate them.”
This week, a report from the GAO provided new impetus for mass euthanizations of captured horses, as well as the sale of the herds to foreign slaughterhouses. GAO says the BLM simply can’t afford to keep feeding so many horses. Like other wild horse advocates, Crow isn’t buying it, “Like a lot of big organizations that are steeped in red tape, the Bureau of Land Management has taken the path of least resistance — whatever is quick and can be brushed under the rug, and that’s to exterminate.”
Recently Secretary Salazar requisitioned $68 million from Congress which included an additional $30 million or so to solve the “so called” Wild Horse Problem. Even so, he has published his next plan to round up another 12,000 horses in 2010; these horses may go into long term holding facilities at significant cost to taxpayers. Meanwhile 4,000,000 Cattle will remain on public lands.
Mustang advocates had sued to block the roundup, saying that use of the helicopters is inhumane because some of the animals are traumatized, injured or killed. Opponents also contend that the bureau is grossly inflating horse numbers to justify their removal from the range. The lawsuit says wild horses are an integral part of the natural ecosystem and should remain on rangeland throughout the West rather than be herded into long-term holding pens.
William Spriggs, a lawyer who argued against the roundup on behalf of California-based In Defense of Animals, said ”The BLM’s policy of stockpiling tens of thousands of horses in the Midwest – off their rightful Western ranges – is contrary to law, the intent of Congress and the will of the American people,” Spriggs said.
As Congressman Raul Grijalva stated regarding the ROAM Act ”We must not lose these majestic icons of the West.” AP NEWS

All over Europe there is growing anti-Muslim backlash against Islamization of their culture and freedoms.
Amid a rising tide of Islamophobia justified fear of Islam in Europe, a former finance senator in Germany has been strongly criticized for his racist, anti-Islam comments. Thilo Sarrazin, former Berlin finance senator and currently a member of the German Central Bank committee called for a headscarf ban in German schools.
His comments come only four months after the official let loose against “Arabs” and “Turks” living in Germany in an interview with the culture magazine Lettre International. ”A large number of Arabs and Turks in this city, whose number has grown through bad policies, have no productive function other than as fruit and vegetable vendors,” he had said.
In his controversial remarks, Sarrazin also alluded to a new plan proposed by the country’s Immigration Commission, which would oblige foreigners seeking to live in Germany to sign “integration contracts” to respect Western values.
On Sunday, Claudia Roth, leader of the German Green Party lambasted the executive board member, demanding his immediate resignation. Islam is the third largest religion in Germany, but the European country has often been accused of hostility towards the faith.
Critics accuse the country of imposing discriminative laws on its 3.3 million Muslim citizens, such as the legislation passed in 2006 that banned teachers in schools and universities from wearing a headscarf. Press TV

Barack Obama has set a rough deadline of the end of this year for Iran to respond to an offer of dialogue on the nuclear issue. Washington and its allies are warning of new, tougher sanctions on Iran if it doesn’t respond.
Ahmadinejad dismissed the threat of sanctions, saying Iran wants talks “under just conditions where there is mutual respect.”
Iran’s president on Tuesday dismissed a year-end deadline set by the Obama administration and the West for Tehran to accept a U.N.-drafted deal to swap enriched uranium for nuclear fuel. The United States warned Iran to take the deadline seriously.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also accused the U.S. of fabricating a purported Iranian secret document that appears to lay out a plan for developing a critical component of an atomic bomb.
Ahmadinejad’s remarks underscored Tehran’s defiance in the nuclear standoff – and also sought to send a message that his government has not been weakened by the protest movement sparked by June’s disputed presidential election. ”The people of Iran and the government of Iran are 10 times stronger than last year,” he said. “I want the whole world to know it’s impossible for Iran to allow the United States to dominate the Middle East.”
In a separate interview with ABC News, Ahmadinejad accused the U.S. of forging the document that appears to describe an Iranian work plan for developing a neutron initiator, a key component in detonating a nuclear bomb.
“They are all a fabricated bunch of papers continuously being forged and disseminated by the American government.” He said the accusations that Iran seeks a weapon has “turned into a repetitive and tasteless joke.” AP NEWS

“President Obama is in the best position to address the alarming justified level of anti-Islam hate in our nation and to urge religious and political leaders to speak out in support of ‘tolerance’ (HAH!) and mutual understanding,” said unindicted terrorist CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
Citing the impact of the book “Muslim Mafia” as an example of rampant “anti-Islam hate in our nation,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations called on President Obama yesterday to address what it calls an “alarming” problem.
CAIR – which has filed suit against “Muslim Mafia” co-author P. David Gaubatz and his son for an undercover investigation of the group’s terrorist ties – distributed a list of “anti-Islam incidents” that included “a call by far-right members of the U.S. House of Representatives to investigate Muslim interns on Capitol Hill as ‘spies.’”

House Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., John Shadegg, R-Ariz., Trent Franks, R-Ariz., Paul Broun, R-Ga., formally asked the House sergeant at arms in October to investigate evidence from “Muslim Mafia” that CAIR is conspiring to plant “spies” inside Congress targeting sensitive security-related committees. In another letter, to Attorney General Eric Holder, the House members ask the Justice Department to reveal to Congress members why CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror-finance case in U.S. history.

U.S. prosecutors believe CAIR, while claiming to be a civil-rights group, is actually a front group for Hamas and other terrorists. The Justice Department stated in September 2007during its prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation in Dallas that CAIR “has been identified by the government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful 
conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization, a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew.”
CAIR said its annual national report on the status of American Muslim civil rights, released this month, showed an increase in bias-related incidents in 2008. CAIR has claimed since the 9/11 terrorist attacks that Muslims in the U.S. have suffered a sharp rise in anti-Islamic abuse. But FBI data actually has shown the number of incidents is dramatically shrinking. The 2006 total of 156, for example, was a 68 percent drop from 2001.
In its letter to Obama, CAIR cited recent incidents in Florida in which a cross with the message “Christian nation, Christian community” was planted at the site of a planned mosque and an anti-Islam Christmas display was set up by a local church. Other incidents listed were “a spate of vandalism incidents at mosques nationwide” and “anti-Islam remarks by Christian evangelist Franklin Graham.” (Why shouldn’t people hate you Muslim terrorists? [9/30/09] Palestinian terrorist forces operating out of the Gaza Strip fired two rockets into southern Israel on Tuesday evening. One of the rockets landed just outside the southern coastal city of Ashkelon, the first direct attack on that city in over two months.

Rabbi Meir Avshalom Chai, 40, of Shavei Shomron, was mortally wounded in the head Thursday afternoon when MUSLIM terrorists fired at the car he was traveling in, between the Jewish communities of Shavei Shomron and Einav in Samaria, west of Shechem, according to preliminary reports.
Chai was the fourth terror victim in theWest Bank in 2009. In March, two policemen were shot dead in the Jordan Valley and in April, 13-year-old Shlomo Nativ was stabbed to death near his home in the Gush Etzion settlement of Bat Ayin.
A spokesperson for Shavei Shomron said that Rabbi Meir Chai worked as an educator at the local school and kindergarten, and that the children were very attached to him. He lived in the community for 14 years and was considered a wise Torah scholar, modest and well-loved.

Rabbi Chai was a father of seven children. He was driving on route 57 when terrorists opened fire on him. His car overturned and he was mortally wounded. His wife and a young son were found in good physical condition by Israeli troops, a short time after the shooting, near Einav. Until they were found, security forces were concerned that the terrorists had tried to abduct the two.

The Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction said Thursday evening they were the ones who carried out the terror slaying. The Israeli military has kept many roads in the area off-limits to Palestinian drivers in restrictions imposed after similar attacks against Israelis.
